Hi Guys and Girls
Is it best to shoot at 23.98fps on the red for US promo work. I'm sure it's pretty obvious to you folks on the other side of the water.
Thanks

Actually I would suggest shooting 29.97 for US promo work (these will be broadcast promos correct?). My background is in on-air promotion and as a producer, I know I personally would appreciate footage, elements, plates, GFX with the same frame rate as the others I'm editing with and not have to worry about pull-downs and conversions. Just my 2-cents.

I'd suggest 29.97 if you're shooting in 4k and your promo is for U.S broadcast. If you're shooting in 3k and its for U.S. broadcast, and you need higher frame rates for fast action, then 59.94 would be a good choice.

We do 23.98 all the time. Conversion is not a big deal but if you want to simplify then go a head and shoot 29.97.

I just realize today that i cannot shoot 29.97 in 4K because i'm on CF cards ! Got a video clip tomorow and we dont want to shoot 3K, 29.97 fps.

We plan to shoot 4K 23.98fps and in post put a pulldown to get the 29.97 fps for broadcast. We try in FCP with a ProRes clip and frame-by-frame you see cleary that it add frame and its not natural.

Whats the secret in post ? There is video clip shoot in 35mm, 24fps and its all good on 29.97 fps.

Anyone have success convert 23.98 fps to 29.97 ?

Thanks

(hope the drives are ready to ship soon!!!)

What are you doing to convert your 23.98 to 29.97? AE? Is there a way to edit in fcp with 23.98 RED footage, and 29.97 non RED footage in the same timeline without having to render?
