i could check the camera but it arrives the day of the shoot but heres my question

running an external monitor that doesn't have a hdsdi input
it has hdmi, bdc,rca , component, & svideo
i have probobly 300feet in bnc cables and rca cables
can i use my bnc cables out of the red?? i dont want a hdlink

my funds are very limited and i know hdmi cables are expensive when they are long

thx

You are going to spend teh same amount of money on HDMI cables as you will for $250 HDSDI to HDMI converter.

Believe me, there is no cheaper way. The only other thing is having your monitor 6ft from the camera and using an HDMI cable.. which totally sucks...

well thats bs

With good cable you should be OK to 50 feet over HDMI, for longer runs you will need a powered (probably AC) amp to push the signal. HD-SDI is a far better choice for long runs but obviously more expensive - (free lunches still being in short supply and all).

Bottom line - if you need to go 300 feet then HDMI is problematic.

I appreciate your way of thinking,

Then when you need to T the cables for another monitor, HDMI definitely will doo the trick, also when you only need 5 more feet.. just pull the 100 footer out of the truck, instead of a simple Barrel.

HDMI is bs, it'll fall out in the middle of the shot, BNC is a standard, this isn't the only camera this will work with either...

Real Monitor = $2500+

24" HDTV + HDSDI to HDMI converter $500 + $250 = $750

or use your own monitor.

100 ft HDMI cable $120, 50ft $70 , 25ft $40, 10 ft $20 = a hell of a lot of hassle,

yes stay away from hdmi - get yourself a used aja hdp (hdsdi to dvi) from ebay and run the bnc out of the hdsdi ports to any dvi monitor.
