Problem; my new Oktava MK012 with 48 phantom powering is not working! I don't recieve any signal (only electric hum). I have used the Red mini XLR to XLR cable assembly. I have tested the microphones at my local music/studio store - and mics are working fine plugged in their phantom powered mixing console.

I've bought a Røde NT4, when powered by a onboard 9V battery - and its work just great. Same microphone doesn't work in the phantom power mode.

Booth microphones working when powered by my XL H1 camera.

So, why is not the 48V phantom power supply working?

Is the Reds phantom real 48V, or is it a nominal and "emulated" 48V (this is what guys in the studio store say is the problem)? Is it possible to measure the phantom power?

Will this matter be fixed wih the new audio board? Is it a fix for the problem?

I have measured the voltage to 48V DC, 1.5 - 1.6 mA under strain. Nothing obvious wrong there. Same metering as my XL H1.

There are issues with phantom power, go see the audio section.

This will be fixed in with the audio board upgrade, coming soon.

This is a known issue for the Red One. You don't want to use the onboard phantom power. Use an external Phantom source for going mic in or go line in via a mixer. Both will be fine..

Good news from the Red HQ:

The new audio board will take care of the phantom power, we should being doing the upgrades by the end of this month.
