  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Is there any Redcine benchmarks done on Intel and AMD systems on both XP and Vista?

I'm mostly a Mac user, but there are so many cheap AMD and Intel systems out, I figured I would get one just to mess with. Hard to choose.

What res?

For online high-res DPX stacks, it takes a long time. Disk speed is quite a big factor.

For making offline 720x486 SD proxies I am at about 1/3 of realtime on a super-cheap dual-core 2.4ghz PC with old nVidia gfx card and using onboard RAID. This is for exporting to a stack of Jpegs (faster than exporting Quicktime codec).

One day they will add DNxHD codec support and I'll use it more.

Both 4k and 2k. I'm more interested in knowing if the cheaper AMD systems are slower, faster or no difference compared to the Intels

What format are you delivering to? Offline? Online?

Anyway, now that Build 16 is here, maybe we can put together a standardized test.

I have suggested Red should have a REDMARK(tm) benchmark - simply because once it's a benchmark used in hardware reviews, the hardware manufacturers start caring more about writing drivers that play nicely with it ;)

I likely want to make a 2k color corrected master from which I would make my deliverables.

4k shots would be for vfx plates, so that would be converted to 16bit Tiffs for Shake, use R3D for After Effects.

I do think it's time for a standardized test. There will be a lot of R3D support out there. Would be nice to know where they all stand.
