  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I have a choice of buying a MacBook PRO or an iMac.

Which would be better for basic editing (FCP) and coloring (AE/Color)?

Thanks

Mac book pro... but you may want to wait a few weeks as the quad core MB Pro's may be right around the corner..

Why not look into a full Mac pro tower ?

Dave

ya, september is always a time for new products, thats why im waiting
i would indeed love to buy a tower, but im kinda broke at the moment.
i dont rent my red out yet (just got it a couple weeks ago) and i still owe some dough, so no tower for me =(

does imac suck so bad?
i own a macbook 13", but its sloooooow

No - it doesn't suck, it just lacks connectivity - no expresscard slot for eSata and one FW800 port. Plugging in external drives etc isn't as good as on a MBP Also, the 1920x1200 screen on my iMac isn't a patch on the 17" MPB, as the heavy glass screen makes the images softer IMHO - and not as colour accurate. I own a MBP, an iMac 24 (2.8Ghz) and 2 Mac Pro towers. The only machine I get an enjoyable RED experience out of is one of the Mac Pros - and I can edit on a proper monitor.

If you want to work on set, get a MBP, if you want to work at home, get a Mac Pro. It's worth the extra for a mid-spec Mac Pro and a 23" cinema display. Really.

Quite.

You can use a Macbook Pro or Mac Pro... You can only play on an IMac...
