Incredible piece - how was this done?

It's really well done and I feel I have a pretty good grasp of how this was done, but wanted to tap into this community of great thinkers to get your take. How do you feel the segments in this piece was done?

Have a client who wants something like this in style. Will be meeting with an FX team, but there always seems to be fifty ways to execute once budget becomes a factor.

Let me know your thoughts.

and that is the problem........so storyboard, storyboard, storyboard, and then storyboard some moreinch:

looks like a lot of steadicam to me - not programed moves.

Yeah, lots of greenscreen layers, lots of storyboarding, and agree with the steadycam, though think that the segments going through door and into dining area, as well as at the pool must have been programmed???

yeah i looked at it again.....could be but you will have heaps of latitude with your comps in 4k. if your moves are smooth enough and you are not trying to match in a heap of people + back grounds then the 3d stuff can be fitted in quiet nicely. they had a lot of people flying in and sliding on in that dinning scene.

it's hard to tell on web quality video - but still very nice.

I can see why they are blossoming, with work like that. Amazing. If you look under the demo reels on Fake Studio's site you will see some behind the scenes of the MGM Grand spot under motion control.

Wow, that was fantastic. Like others have said, a lot of moolah went into that, but also a lot of good planning and execution.

Being able to master green-screen shooting and comping of digital backgrounds is going to be a valuable skill in the decades to come. Extremely valuable.

I think so too. Lots of clients are going to want that "wow" factor. Hopefully Curt will make a dolly/jib to add more axis of motion to their Mirus MoCo head.

This is what Curt said in an email to me yesterday.

As for Mirus.... still working on it. We have two guys working on finalizing the boards and the timecode generator circuitry.

One thing I have learned over the years is to just be patient with all this. If you need a certain piece of technology to get a certain shot you have in mind, just plan ahead of time for it to take about twice as long as the best-guess estimates. Then you won't be disappointed or find yourself waiting around.

It's like all these Canon mount guys pulling their hair out and stressing. Just figure it's going to be a while! Shoot other stuff in the meantime.

Yeah, I've learned to be a lot more patient over these last couple of years. I have to admit, I also use it as an excuse to whore out my camera for $ while I wait for that one accessory.
