Why is it called RED?

No mystery, no hidden message, RED is simply the color that represents strength, power and passion, in addition to being chosen as a favorite color by a high percentage of the population. When researching the color Red, one learns that Red “grabs attention”, gets people to “take action” and suggests “speed combined with confidence and perhaps even a dash of danger”, all apropos for the RED ideology.

On set right now. Someone just asked me, 'So why is it called the RED Camera anyways?"

I thought for a minute, and did not know.

Is there a good story behind it? Why is it called RED?

Afraid this is one of those questions like where you probably wished you hadnt asked. A bit like the words some Dean Martin songs I sort of like, once an Italian translated them into English for me they became downright boring!!

for your answer. Up until around 2005 the domain name www.red.com does not appear to have been owned by Mr Jannard!

My conclusion is he bought the right to the name because it has cool marketing potential and then applied it to the camera, not the other way round!:detective2:

Note that other busy little bees have been buzzily registering the domain RED in other countries. For example in Germany http://www.red.de!

Red is the color with the shortest wavelength and hence covers the most distance, which is why they used Red in the Red Cross so the wounded could see it from afar. Red also is the color of fertility, this comes from the swelling of lips with blood in women at their times of menstruation. From these traditional meanings of the color Red which are embedded deep into the human psyche. Red suggest a fresh, longitudinal, and sexy Product. The color itself was not overt enough for the revolutionary degree of the product and so the Name "Red" was associated with it too. Due to the decreasing I.Q of the modern man, caused by A.D.D a pervasive contemporary condition, but thats a whole different rant.
