  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

shocking blue noise in Standard-processed Redcine quicktime files

also NOTE: that you do not see others here posting images like your's which tends to tell me this is more specific to your set up ? which could be several things ?? i know on my system i thought Redcine was the problem and it ended up being a graphic card issue not redcine ...
I'd have to agree with Donatello, looks very much like a card (or driver for the card) not playing ball with RedCine. I've found that most things Redcine related tend to be a result of something not being happy in the graphics card department.

What's your setup?

Paul

I have a dozen shots that render out to look like that.
But, all look perfectly fine inside REDCINE.

However, the cause/fix seems inconsistent.
Some will render out correctly to Tiff, some render correctly on 'standard' process, and some will render out correctly on 'full' process. Sometimes changing the project time line settings fixes it.

The shots I have issues with were shot on a 15 beta build so I think it may be a codec/redcine issue.

I'm using a MacBook Pro (new) standard graphics card.

wierd - found another shot that has single pixels of white - looks like film sparkle. WTF?

I do a bit of coding. I got that effect when I implemented "smooth hue interpolation" badly in one of my own demosaic implementations, so I wouldn`t rule out the possibility of a demosaic error, though I can`t imagine Red doing anything badly. Thats just a wild guess btw based on the sparkles.

I'm more a pc guy.... I thought all macbook pro had the same graphic card??? is this some kind of setup issue? I would be a good thing to have detailed specs. and or specific models of computers with specific parts which were RED approved. I am ready to buy a macboook pro but am afraid I will get the wrong thing.....

I just rendered about 50 shots out of redcine to prores HD and some of my shots have the same sparkle problem. I have a mbp. I'll tone down my saturation and see if that does the trick.
