will there be any resolution loss? In redcine I want a 16:9 shot from my 2k 2:1 footage.

Craig

yes since the only way for extract 16:9 from 2:1 is cropping the frame

The reason why 2k 2:1 to 1080p isn't super great is because

2k 2:1 = 2048x1024

and

1080p = 1920x1080, so when you crop and output you're actually blowing your footage up a tiny bit. This is the same reason why outputing 1080p from 4k files processing standard in Redcine gives you less than full quality.

Unless you like a bit of letterbox in your 16:9, which I personally do!:w00t:

Thanks guys. How would you handle 4k and 2k footage in the same timeline for an HD 1080 project? Have the 2k footage letterboxed and the 4k full frame? I would like to keep my 4k letterboxed to match the 2k shots (I have many more 2k shots). Can I do that in redcine?

Build 17 should make this all work. Wonder if they will release it in Beta?
