Strange Vista issue

Anyone got ideas about this one?

I'm running RedCine on Vista. Well...trying to. Apparently other people are able to get it going just fine. Whenever I run RedCine, my mouse pointer disappears. It's still there and functional (when I'm lucky I actually get it over a button and am able to click something) but as you ca imagine it is REALLY difficult to do anything.

Anyone else have this problem? And solved it?

Thanks,

Jon

Redcine was working very good on Vista for 2 months ...
then i started getting the no pointer and other problems ...
when i had that problem i would restart Redcine ... then sometimes all the bottons in Redcine were off by one ( so the button i clicked on was really the button above the one i clicked ) - again would restart Redcine ... then sometimes while playing clips i would get the BLUE screen in preview ...
bottom line was it would not work ... so i went into SYSTEM restore and went backwards ... seems when i uninstalled adobe premiere trial Redcine started to work again ... i reinstalled Premiere and Redcine would not work properly ... so no longer have Premiere ...
perhaps this is a vista problem ?? now i just get the blue screen when i attempt to view FULL ..if i stay at 1/4 & 1/2 seems to be OK ...

Sigh.

Its a brand new laptop so I don't even have anything to un-install.

Except Firefox. But I doubt that's causing a problem.

You can't really call this a 'strange' problem. Vista is not supported by RedCine.
regards,

John T.

We have RC running on Vista 32 and Vista 64.

I understand it's possible, but it's not supported, so when things don't work it's not really 'weird'. That's the point I was trying to make. I believe the reason it's not supported is because there are problems with openGL drivers in Vista (especially Nvidia - maybe not so much ATI?).

cheers

Redcine in vista works better with Nvidia, Ati better on Macs. I think the problem is to do with overlay support in vista.
I tried to delete a 6.3mb file a week or two ago, six hours later it was still preparing the action, or thinking about it as I like to say. Hilarious, yawn. Just one example of weirdness. Still, vista makes up for these little flaws by giving me disk speeds that are halfed when compared to the Linux partition.. er .. actually its just s**t. If vista was a clown it would be quite funny (:clown2: - Hi, i'm a modern operating system!)
