Sorry I know not the proper attachment procedures, but I'm sure (not really) my crude Lightroom sites will be awe-inspiring to the masses.

Sincere apologies for not attaching.

Ah, screw... might as well. I'm primarily a photojournalist and sports shooter for my still photography at this point, but I won't bore you with too many of the sports shots right now.

Sorry about the watermarks folks, but I don't want these photos used without permission by anybody who happens to run across this thread in an image search. All images other than the Berlin images below are © 2008 Harrison Diamond / The Independent Florida Alligator.

I'll start with the soundslides from a study abroad photojournalism course I participated in. My university, the University of Florida, has an annual trip of about a dozen journalism/photography students to Berlin, Germany where we learn about the local history and culture and must pick a photo subject, shoot them for a few days, record audio, then put together the slideshow before leaving.
Here is my project slideshow.

So I hope you liked that, and now for some of my other stuff.

This one is from a charity rodeo back in January- we did a photo spread in the paper and a slideshow for the website.

Last, if you do like sports (particularly Baseball), I shot the UF vs. LSU baseball series at the end of March and there's a gallery on the paper's website.

I may put together a little gallery shortly of some photos I took on a trip to Norway this May, where I went on an expedition with nature photographer Bjørn Rørslett.

Hope this wasn't too boring and awful. If you all like it, I hope to share some more in the coming weeks and months. Shame about the 4 image limit here, or I would have had a few more in this post.

Technical: All shots posted here were done with:
Nikon D3 (all photos except the car crash), and D300 (crash).
Nikon AF-S 14-24mm f/2.8G, 24-70mm f/2.8G, 70-200mm f/2.8G VR, 200mm f/2G VR, 200-400mm f/4G VR; Nikon AF 50mm f/1.8D, Voigtländer 40mm f/2.0 SL Ultron, and Nikon AI 28mm f/3.5.

Don't take it personally.. I'm just obsessed with sunset landscape shots....! :)

Hi,

If you are going to shoot for time lapse, stop motion, or motion control, I would recomend setting your camera to shoot 3 bracket exposures and fit the camera with an automated filter wheel with strong RED, GREEN, and BLUE separation filters in front of the lens, plus XB29 or IR/UV. That would then give you 9 exposures per frame. Won't work for high wind and trees or some water shots, but it can for other subjects.

27 exposures gives better results, much less noise and better color. More than 27 probably would not help much.

My program DANCINES.EXE (tm) runs a film scanner, but it could also be used for time lapse outdoors on an old laptop. The parallel printer port can control solid state relays that should be able turn the filter wheel motor and shutter cable on and off. You can use a DC motor and some micro switches to control the filter wheel probably, its just like a light house only the other way around, rather than shooting with RED, GREEN, and BLUE lights, you select the stop micro switch for the filter needed. You could write you own program to do this as well.

For stop motion and motion control, you can get HDR and better color than you can with the camera's single exposure. It would be better to use a good high resolution industral monochrome camera since it would not have a mechanical shutter like a DSLR has, since you make 9 exposures per frame the DSLR needs service sooner.

Hi,

I bought the Canon 5D a couple months ago, and am starting to do some time lapse too. I'm just wondering, how do you know when your shutter is toast and you need to send it in for a new one? Does the camera stop working? Is there any message telling you the problem?

Tom that is a sick photo. I really need to get some stuff out there as I pass by it a couple times in a month.

Thanks, man. As you can imagine, I shot more than one frame of this...

Nice picture and a unique angle. I was there when those fires started from that thunder storm...that's if this picture is from this years fires.
