  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Could someone please explain how this happened for me?

Last time I tried importing audio with pictures using the camera proxies, I was using Build 15 and Media Composer 2.8.

Now I'm on MC3 adn I assume the footage I received was Build 16.

Yesterday, I received some footage, Metacheater-ed it, imported, and the audio came in perfectly intact. The proxy info through Quicktime says "32-bit Integer (Big Endian), 2.0 (Mono Mono), 48.000 kHz". I haven't read anything about MC3 supporting 32bit audio.

Can anyone explain?

We have put in a fix to support the 32bit via QT import, I thought it was in the next point release, but it may have slipped in earlier. Did you get any error messages when importing?

Michael

No errors reported whatsoever.
I'll do a proper test on some more footage later.
Thanks. If this works reliably it'll be a huge timesaver.

im guessing from the camera proxies? if you use rushes you can select avid compatible audio. that still wont address that red wrappers are marking their audio tracks as mono mono. this is wrong and should be discreet

this will sum the audio accross the two channels, this needs fixing for now i've made an automator to pan the tracks so they are discreet. something to lookfor

Hi David, thanks for the input.
What do you mean, if you use 'rushes'? Redrushes?

Just to clarify. The audio was recorded into the camera. My quicktime proxies have this as 32bit audio. I import these into Media Composer 3 adn it works.

Whatever 'rushes' stage/application you mention, is not part of my workflow.

I think it is REDrushes that creates the "monofication" of the files rather than leaving them discreet. If you are coming straight from the camera proxies, then those are most likely correct.

Michael

the camera proxies are set to mono tracks and will sum them accros tracks too, so you have to modify them in qt pro audio settings to be either left right or discreet 0 discreet 1
