For those of you still interested, I finally have an update on the 15mm studio bridge mount.

They are all set to go to manufacturing, but there is one problem. The price is going to be a lot higher than I wanted it to be. They will have to sell for $200 each and even at that, I won't make a dime.

I'm going to see if the price can be lowered by once again re-designing the rod clamps. Right now, the mounts can snap on and off the rods as they have clamps that open up on the bottom of the mount, you don't need to slide other equipment off to add or remove one of these mounts. Unfortunately, there are a few caveats. One is that the mount is more expensive. Another is that the amount of torque on the clamping screw is significant in order to provide enough pressure to keep the mount from sliding on the rods.

I am currently having the production costs re-figured if I manufacture the mounts with a full sleeve that tightens. Hopefully it will be cheaper and in the long run it may not be quite as convenient, but will be 100% secure (as opposed to 99.5%). The big benefit will be a cost savings and cosmetic difference of smaller and cheaper thumb-screws.

I'd like anyone who reads this, who is interested in these mounts, to respond to this thread. Let me know what you think of the $200 price tag (plus shipping). Right now, I'm entirely disinclined to proceed with these mounts at that price. Because there are other solutions that come into play when we start talking $200 and up.

Having seen the prototype...it's pretty friggin' sweet.
The snap on feature alone is worth the price increase, plus it's got plenty of 1/4 20's for various mounting points. Machined aluminum, and it feels sturdy as all hell.
Jeff, a pic would be nice:)

I'll take some pictures and put them up later today. I suppose that would help people get a better feel for what we're actually talking about.

Stay tuned guys, I'm changing the design away from the quick-release clamps. More testing has shown that it's just not the best idea. Or in other words, I want to be 110% sure the mount isn't going to fail when someone has it as part of a car mount rig or whatnot.
