FCP Log & Transfer problem

with "still doesn't work" I mean that the L&T windows shows no clips. On a working machine, after you add a folder, the RED logo is in the L&T window saying something about adding the clips, and then all the clips show up. But on this machine, after you add a folder, the L&T window stays empty. No logo, no clips.

OK, this sounds like something is causing the loading of the volume to abort. I am assuming that you are using the same volume on the machine that works as you are on this one. If you wouldn't mind taking this conversation to email (private messages on this board) then I'll work on setting you up with a build that has some logging messages which may give me a clue.

Based on the descriptions it sounds like two very different scenarios (green clips vs. no clips at all.)

Sure, the only thing is that you have to wait until monday... It's 02:00 in the night right now (Amsterdam), and I still have 3 to 4 hours of work to go the presentation tomorrow morning.

The L& T red options are there. I opened up the Redfiles and all the screens are green.
I re-down loaded Red Cine, it now opens! But I tried to make a pro res but all it did is make a single freeze frame....

I feel like Charlie Brown.....

An "interesting" possibility came up. I don't know if it's going anywhere but, are you by chance using a DeckLink card in your system?

Are you talking about Black magic decklink? then no.
I've given up on L&T and RedCine.
I'm importing the proxies directly into FCP, cutting and then I'm using media manager to make them in to ProRez.

For those having trouble with the L&T plugin, if you could do this it might help get to the bottom of this situation (and I know you guys are busy trying to do real work...sorry for the intrusion)

Create a system profile from Final Cut Pro via the following:

Help->Create Support Profile

Then email me (via the "private message" section of reduser.net) the resultant tar file.

gunleik, this could be especially helpful in your case since you were successful on some systems and not on others. If you could do so for one that worked and one that didn't, maybe something will show.

In discussing your situation an interesting question came up wrt the above post...is your "Mac Quad" an Intel 4-core machine or a G5?

gunleik, this could be especially helpful in your case since you were successful on some systems and not on others. If you could do so for one that worked and one that didn't, maybe something will show.

Hi. I may have a shot at them again tomorrow, but as this was in classroom for a Videofirm I don't frequent them on dayly basis.

One thing I can say though was that all the machines were upgraded to the latest of everything. One had OSX server - and it still worked. My private machine was among the two that didn't work, and there's no decklink or aja card in thatone. I think AVID Mediacomposer was installed on both machines with a hickup (mine and the iMac.) That's the only similar "diferent from the rest" thing I can remember, but that would be a weird answer...

This may shed a little light...

I have two G-Raid drives. I transfered the R3D to one drive and backed it up to the 2nd.

There are 3 folders from each transfers from the R3D. 99gig, 55 gig, and a 5gig.

I can import the 5 gig folder into the L&T window but not the other two folders. Then I tried the first drive that I originally transferred onto and it worked from there.

Why would it work from on drive and not the other?

Sounds like the codec may be missing or [more likely] have an old codec installed. Try upgrading
to 3.1.

I installed the codec prior to installing the log and transfer utility. I can read the QT reference files, but log and transfer still does not work.

Just an asside should it take an hour to transcode 4 minutes of footage to ProRes? Luckily we only shot 1 day on the Red.

Depending on quality and CPU: yes, it can…

L&T works here, but I prefer RedRushes.

There are a couple of components to the time to transcode...one is
the debayer process within the codec, the other is the transcode time
from REDCODE to ProRes. We are working on some faster alternatives.

I am using the latest Red L & T plugin for FCP . The recent 3DG I down loaded from Redrelay.com is grayed out. When using Red Alert the clip IS accessible. Any ideas?
PS I am running FX Factory 2.0.5

Mac Pro 8 core
OS X 10.5.4
QT 7.5
Ram 8 gigs

Yeah, I have the L&T transfer window open, and using the add volume (top left button).

I'll check adding the RDM folder when I get back in the office again and see how I go though- have a feeling I would've tried it though.

Or you can drag and drop the RDM or RDC folder from the finder onto the L&T window
