Has anyone experienced trouble powering up their Red?

the other day, i was outside in the sun and shooting for about 6 hours. At lunch, I powered down the Red camera to let it cool down and to save batteries.

After lunch, when I came to power it back on, it took a very long time. I hit the power button, and the rear LCD illuminated. But it never wrote "Booting..." It stayed like this for about 2 minutes, then I heard the fan kick in fast.

It then shut down on it's own, and re-started the process again. this time, it took about 20 seconds before it read "Booting...", and from that point it proceeded as usual.

Near the end of the day, I had powered it down for a bit, and when I came back to it, it did the same thing. And later that night when I got home, I wanted to do another test and yet once again, it was acting in the same way. Today however, it is booting fine.

Has anyone had this problem?? is it anything to be worried about? The day we were shooting it was hot... around 95F and we were on a runway with no shade except my trusty 4x4 flop that lived overhead.

Any input on this matter would be great.

Thanks.

it happened with me once . i disconnect everything (while it is off)and without
Battery connected, push the start button(hold it for 5-10 second)
then connect everthing again and reboot it. hope it will fix your
problem. maybe it was over heated

Happens all the time. I never have the LCD or anything else connected when I start it.

Here's a really amazing co-incidence(?). After a battery change I always make sure the lens cap is on before I re-boot. It hasn't failed to boot 5/5 times. Don't ask why, what, when. Just do it. Hope it works for U2.

BTW does one have to eject the CF card during a battery change?

This happened to me a most of the time after build 16.
The camera would take a very long time to bring up "booting..." on the rear LCD. It would take up to 3-4times before it would come up. The camera would re-start itself after the fan run at full speed.

I'm not sure if my issue is what your experiencing as at the end I have returned my camera back to Red for repair. My camera was basically unusable.

Red have been very good up to this point in getting up and running.
They have only had the camera for one day so I have not hear the final result of what was wrong.

I will update you once I know.
Good luck.

i had similar problems too...
1st when i plugged in my lcd the cam crashed
changing the lcd seemed to solve the problem for that day.
then big booting problems began.(it was not hot)

red was very helpful and the cam is back for repair.
the woodoo is, the techs at red cant find something wrong with my red.

maybe a combination of certain things leads to this problem?
------------------------------

the weird thing is, a friend did get his RED the same day, and the conditions we use the cams are almost similar...
he has one of the terminator reds without woodoo...hehe

Remove LCD / EVF cable from Camera Body will solve booting issues. This happens in Build-16.
