Hey guys
I have come across a new product.
The V-Bag.
Its like a steadibag or sand bag, filled with the Danish invention from the sixties "Krøyer balls"(little balls of poly) that is used to fill sack chairs.
It has a pump that sucks out the air and makes it a rock solid platform after you have placed the camera on it.(hence the name V(acuum) Bag)
I tried it for five shooting days.
Its a must have for any AC or rental, in my opinion.
Its made by some of the best focuspullers/ACs in my country.
Its very high quality in manufacture and it seems very durable
I have asked them to make it inflatable also(For bouncy Danish dogma on-the-knee operating;-)

Check it out at www.v-bag.dk
It comes in three sizes.

Disclaimer:
I have no afilliation with this company and will gain nothing from this, other than that they agreed to lending me a medium V-Bag for my next feature.

I would love Finner to check it out and give a review.

I love the idea, but I am not liking the price.
Do you have any footage of the truck scenes, just see how it absorbs shock?

I think for that amount of money, one is better off with a few wedges and a sandbag.....the product looks fine, but seems incredibly overpriced for what it does for you.

Very quick note: I love my cinesaddle (this is my second), I have used it successfully on everything from speeding boats to helis with a bit of adapting-- worked brilliantly.

As far as size... get the CINE saddle. Not the baby saddle or the mini. Works great in many respects as a car mount for some situations and in other respects it is fairly obvious when other professional mounts would be the proper application. Just use your judgement. :)

This is the cheapest thing in my new kit. It is also the first thing that I purchased for use with my Red. Take that for what you want... and I have access to more than just indie gear (only to clarify my intent). I also know that the owner/inventor Mike Young is very excited by the Red One, the Company and Red Users. This is a great guy that through frustration created a very effective tool for camera people to "steal shots" so to speak. Sound familiar? :)

We've sold and rented a number of CineSaddles to people with Reds. Definitely go for the large unit. They fit quite nicely and are very useful tools.

V-bag Vs. Cinesaddle.

V-bag Vs. Cinesaddle.

As one of the two people behind the V-Bag I will not comment on wither the V-Bag is good or bad or if the V-Bag is overpriced or not. My opinion is obvious,
But I would like to comment on the comparison to the Cinesaddle.

I myself have two steady bags and a Cinesaddle and I love them.
I must have used them a hundred times and they are great products for the Red camera or any other camera for that matter.
They are also, in my opinion, a ¨must have¨ in the camera or grip truck.
But, you would not necessarily have to use your Red camera with the V-Bag, instead of the cinesaddle.
Apart from a few similarities, they are different tools for different shots and they also work great together.
We will, as soon as possible, make the difference more clearly on our home page.
This will hopefully also explain the difference in prices.

Until then, please check out this gallery

Though I would agree that the price is a little steep, this sure is a cool product. I've only seen it demonstrated at a local rental facility (not actually used it in a real-world production scenario) and I gotta say it looks really cool. I don't think pictures does it justice Erik - you should post a few clips of how it can be used to it's full extend. I think that will be an eye opener to some.

the pricing is ridiculous...they are kidding, right?

lol, that's what I think about most "hi-end" stuff I see. We're solidly in the land of Porsches now.

It has become very clear to us that our home-page does not show what the V-Bag is capable of. Looking at it as a flat rubber steady-bag does indeed make the price seem ridiculous.
We are right now working at a series of short movies for the home page that hopefully will show how it can be used to it´s full extend.
Thank you all for your comments.

I don't think it's as much that as it is that people just looked at it briefly and didn't pay proper attention to it. At first glimpse it looks as if it would be a new Cinesaddle. I can clearly see the use for this kind of tool and how clever it can be. There's plenty of times I've rigged it on the cinesaddle and then hoped for it just to keep that position no matter what I do, without restraining it so I can't do quick adjustments.

This looks to me as if it would be a very good tool in my kit, you got my vote.
