Sorry if this has already been posted.
I love that we can assign functions to the user buttons. However, sometimes it's nice to "uncheck" certain buttons and disable them so fumbling on the camera body or EVF won't accidentally enable the functions.
So, I have tried to do just that, disabling the three buttons on the EVF and leaving User 1 and User 2 (on the body) active.
But...
No matter what I set the preference for, the button closest to the eye in the EVF (#4?) is stuck on MAGNIFY. Whether I uncheck to disable, or set it to some innocent function (volume on an MOS shoot for example) it stays on and in MAGNIFY.
Is this known?
Or am I doing something wrong? (always a possibility)
Cheers,
Harry

EVF button.

EVF button.

That specific key has a fixed function - image magnify, so its not available as a USER KEY.

Interesting. Good to know.
Why then are there five buttons in the user button menu? ;)
And can we make it un-fixed in Build 17?
Harry

Nope.
In the KEYMAP menu, there is a checkbox for SIDE RECORD and a pulldown menu for USER KEYS. In that pulldown menu there are 5 user keys to enable and set.

Ahhhh.
So "Button 4" (which I assumed was the third button on the EVF) actually refers to the one on the LCD. Crazy.
Maybe we can at least disable, if not change, the odd one on the EVF? Pretty Please?
Cheers,
Harry

Yes!!!

I am on a National Lampoon feature right now with Red 137.

I'm managing the data, but the camera crew are having trouble with the EVF dial, because they keep bumping it and settings keep changing.

It's not realistic to keep them from bumping the buttons. There needs to be a way to turn off the EVF dial.

Pretty please?
