  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

REDCINE for PowerPC

horrible news. I just started shooting in Florida and this would of really helped me.
 
You can't use Redcode QT, Redcine, or Red Alert on PPC. They didn't want to waste valuable time writing code for a platform whose days are numbered. I have a G5 Quad that is still quite usable, but just upgraded to an 8-core. That's just the way it is.
 
Is the SDK out yet? Will we be seeing third party PowerPC support?
 
I hope your still reading this I Forum, found a solution using Darwine or Qemu. The only thing is the time is gona take to convert (depends on program and equipment settings). If your on a deadline rush I recommend to go to a PC or Intel mac reconvert and the import FCP.

Can you elaborate on how to use those two emulator programs to allow you to trans code footage on G5's?

I use an intel for all my work now, but I'm sure I'm not the only one with a G5 gathering dust that could be slowly working away transcoding less time sensitive files.
