  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED 50-150mm

As far as I can tell, they are still shipping out the mid-200s...I have one of these now as well, bought it through another user with a lower reservation number, and I was playing with it (just kitchen table testing it) tonight. It's going to be my workhorse lens, for sure. It's quite nice and an easy size and weight.

I'll see if I can get out and shoot some stuff this weekend. I have a 50mm prime lens that I want to test it against, at the 50mm end...should be interesting.

The nice thing about the 18-50mm and 50-150mm combo is how mobile and portable these are...nice bit of coverage for the size, weight, and price.

I'm very happy to have mine now, but I just wish RED could get these out to the folks who need 'em! More speed, Mr. Sulu!

these lenses are being made by an old russian lens maker locked in a basement in england somwhere...give the guy a break!! heh heh

thanks god... i mean jim...50-150 here we go

Our 50-150 is in transit.

yes, Shawn, can you clarify this? Because it goes against everything I've seen and heard about the shipping order of these lenses -- did you get it through a lower-number reservation holder? Or is it actually attached to you camera reservation in the 900s? I think it would be helpful to the folks who are trying to track the shipping according to rez number to have this information.

I take you guys have not gotten yours? If you didn't know, accessories are being shipped by camera aquisition as well as number, if you paid when you first got the notice then you should have got your lens.

I am only hopping there was a mistake and we really are at the 900's but that seems unlikely.

I got my #508 as quickly as I could. Some people in the next group got theirs before me because of, um, idiosyncracies in the Red ordering process at the time. So it is conceivable that #994 could be before me. If it is, then mine really should be on it's way soon, but the last # I heard positively was 214 or 215. This would be a big jump.

Hope it's true!

Well, it's sitting in the FedEx sort facility right now. When I get it on Monday, I'll post a pic....

This is extremely good news for those of us eagerly waiting for our 50-150's. When did you actually receive your camera? I got the email to place final order for my camera at the beginning of February, but didn't actually get my camera until approximately March 20, due to Red's ordering system (that was frustrating; apparently it's much better now).

I'm happy for you, Shawn, that you are getting the lens. Congratulations!

Finally...
I'll post stills from the lens some other day. For now, here's these of it (sorry they suck):
