I've been shooting at countryside, in the house, with batteries. later, I knew i got insufficient battery, i changed to AC adaptor. THEN Red One has stopped right after the booting. just like windows XP, all the menu and even the picture, stopped like a still image. I've tried several time and compared with battery and tested it, but only with AC adator Red One Camera was freezed.

I think this is because of the quality of power(electricity) of the house.
Our power-generator was only available of 5Kw, so we used one 1.2Kw HMI light trough the house power. but after than, controler of HMI was stop due to unstable power.

after the shoot, I tried again the AC adator in big building in the city, worked fine again.

=====oops sorry, I should write this article on another forum... but i don't know how to delete it..

If you plug into mains using the AC adaptor (i.e. not via the charger) a surge protector is a must, otherwise your camera might get fried if there's dodgy power in your location.

I tend to use a battery backup computer powers supply (UPS) with the Red power supply.

I really wouldn't take chances with unstable power.

agreed.

I personally never shoot with house or genies.

I always use batteries.

If you have to use AC make sure you have a UPS before power adapter.

Just my personal practice, and it's been serving me well.
