Hi,

Is your Cooke 14mm T2.8 an 18mm Cooke with an aspheron?

Stephen

Hi Stephen,
I'm assuming you are talking about an Aspheron wide angle adapter, yes? There is no separate adapter attachment. It is one lens piece. Now, if century precision combined an original cooke lens with an adapter in this same housing I don't know. It doesn't look like it when I look down the front element of the lens. I don't know any history about this lens and the guys at Clairmont had never seen it before. It is definetely a fun lens to use for commercials and music videos. I would be willing to sell it seperately if interested.

Can you post pictures of the 14mm lens? I have never heard of such a lens. I would be very interested to see a picture of this lens. Is it a longer lens inverted in the Century housing?

If Clairmont's never seen it, it's out there.

Does it cover Super35mm?

I'm intrigued.

thanks!

Hi,

The reason I ask is Geoff Boyle also had a 14mm that was an 18mm with an Aspheron wide angle built in. His conversions were done by Van Diemen in the UK. Cooke don't admit to there being a 14mm in the SII/III range.

Geoff's did cover S35 1.185 without problem, like the Zoom assuming the front mask is removed.

Here's the only pic I have of it. It is really small, more like the size of a photo film lens. I don't know if it covers S35mm. I have only used it for R35mm.

Stephen, your thoughts make sense. It gets a little soft around the edges so it might make sense that it has a built in aspheron like Geoff's. The thing is it just seems to short.

Hi,

The 18mm is not a long lens to begin with. Geoff Boyle sold his set to Jeff Barkledge http://www.barklage.com/
