  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

When sending in a RED ONE for eval...

HEY! I sent my camera in and it was returned in a different box. Why is that a big deal? Because MY box had the red sticker on it! The returned box was a plain old box! No sticker, No character, nothing! That sticker had sentimental value to me! So can I get a free 16 gig card for my horrendous pain and suffering..... ok 8 gig....maybe

Just return your camera in the inner camera box (the one inside of the box with the sticker). That way we get the best of both worlds - you keep your sticker, we get it shipped in the right box :)

I think they should put a repair center in Georgia...that way all those documentary film makers following the rise of Cold War v2.0 will have a place to go when their RED one get's riddled with bullets.

graetzy

I only got charged $54 dollars by Australians customs because they wanted to inspect it. I do remember when I sent it off that lady at FedEx made sure I put "return for repair" multiple times on each piece of paperwork. There was also documents included by Red when it was sent back that had "Return for repair" in big bold letters. I'd get of the phone to FedEx they've been great with sorting any customs issues I've encountered.

That said, I did lose a job due to the week I was with out my camera. While I'm impressed that Red could get it back to me so quick it would be great if we had a closer repair spot. Perhaps Singapore since that's where a lot of the equipment seems to be made.
hey winzar,

we had repair return info all over the package - and insured that RED did the same on the way back. We've been in regular contact with Fedex Australia and RED directly in both cases (both of whom were very helpful). The issue is with Australian Customs. It probably depends on whether or not the customs officer is on a power-trip that day :(

In both cases we've been without our camera for upwards of 2 weeks - which is an expensive exercise.

Fingers crossed Australia can get some official RED presence in the near future!
