...we ask you to do a few things.

1. Contact Technical Support. Always contact us before sending in a camera. We might be able to resolve any issues remotely. Please use the Technical Support webform on http://www.red.com/contact_us .

2. Get permission. If you are not the camera owner (eg, are renting the camera), please make sure RED has authorization from the owner for the evaluation to be performed. An email to us from the owner is perfect.

3. Strip it down. Please only send the RED ONE camera body to us. We don't want to be responsible for any accessories that you send with your RED ONE. Prime offenders are SD Cards, CF Cards, and Focus Hooks.

4. RMA number. Every RED ONE coming back to us needs to have an RMA number for us to quickly bring up the reason for eval. Make sure you have one assigned.

5. Packaging. Keep the packaging from your initial RED ONE delivery and send back the RED ONE in that. It was specifically designed for RED ONE shipping. And, it is much preferred to some of the creative packaging methods we have seen as well as a Pelican cases. Though I do have to give props to the cusrtomer who sent their RED ONE in crash housing :)

Thanks in advance, everyone. We want to make sure we are as efficient as much as possible.

Thanks, BC

Sorry Brent what is RMA number ?

Return Merchandise Authorization
After we create the proper organized file on your case it is assigned an RMA number and this is the number we will ask you to reference so we can look back and get all the necessary info needed at a glance

Johan, Jim had announced in another thread that a euro-service center is in the works as we speak.

jedi666, if you don't have your old box, you can your RED ONE to us in a cardboard box with the RED ONE bubble-wrapped and padded. When your RED ONE comes back from RED, it will be in the shipping box that you should use in the future, as needed.

Bassam, you get an RMA number from RED when it is decided your RED ONE needs to come back for eval.

Siiiiii! Ibiza. Eivissa. Red Service in Sant Josep Ibiza, close to the great bar vinya, drinking some cool cerveza or a cortado when waiting for eval.
or going into some clubs at this time. and in summer a very good good heated test area.

ok. to come into reality: berlin would be a great place as being a heavy growing place again for international filmmaking. or actually munich, home of arri :w00t:

This would mean war....

;-))

Now, seriously. Munich or Berlin would be perfect. Big Airports. Lots of studios. Geographic center. Many good technicians.

....

Why not make a deal with P+S?

I wouldn't mind that as long as all costs fall in the guarantees of Red.

I'd like the Netherlands or Germany to be a good base for service of course. Thje city of Eindhoven (BRAINPORT) would be a good base. Dutch Technical skills and creativity combined with geographical advantages.

Honestly: I will be perfectly happy when Red service would be at a reasonable distance for fast service when needed.

Asia-Pacific service centre please Jim

Asia-Pacific service centre please Jim

Jim, any chance of an Australian/Asia-Pacific service centre? Australian Customs are seriously screwing with us every time our RED comes back from a service. Last time they charged us $2,000. This time they just won't release the camera. We're losing thousands while our camera sits in some wanker's customs office :(

I know that's not RED's problem - and the international repair/return service is phenomenal from RED. But a service centre closer to home would be extremely beneficial. Last count there were 70+ RED One's either in Australia or on order. The market for RED is exploding here, but we're copping some flak from clients with the bodies breaking down so regularly....

I know it's probably a low-priority at the moment - just registering interest.

I only got charged $54 dollars by Australians customs because they wanted to inspect it. I do remember when I sent it off that lady at FedEx made sure I put "return for repair" multiple times on each piece of paperwork. There was also documents included by Red when it was sent back that had "Return for repair" in big bold letters. I'd get of the phone to FedEx they've been great with sorting any customs issues I've encountered.

That said, I did lose a job due to the week I was with out my camera. While I'm impressed that Red could get it back to me so quick it would be great if we had a closer repair spot. Perhaps Singapore since that's where a lot of the equipment seems to be made.
