I am trying to find something to protect the Red Camera. It looks at though Porta Brace does not make any body armor for the Red Camera. I was wondering if anyone knew of any company that makes a splash guard or padded cover for the camera. I am filming La Tomatina in Spain (the huge tomato fight) and I am worried about the camera. Any suggestions?

Kind of big but will protect the camera against any wet water based attack is the HD housing by ScubaCam. Check out the web site and if you give them a call they might be abel to give you a name of someone who will rent you one in Europe. Get the one with a Scuba air bottle adapter so you can blow off the front port. Just so you know this is a rather large cover but has a base plate for tripod use. Or just use a trash bag and take care not to take any hits direct on the lens. Have fun. I was there a few years back and had a blast.

was going to do this for my iPhone...apparently its sum new technique that sorta makes ur fone waterproof..and they seem to be doing it to laptops too..
so im guessing they could potentially do it to a red?would be great since ur red looks the same...expect its pretty much capable of taking the elements even more... heh

http://www.camrade.com/

They sent us some rain-jacket samples custom designed for the RED that was pretty solid... no impact padding but the material was thicker than most.

why dont i send it to you to test out...?

deal. I'm in touch with Brian Bryne.... I will be ordering some more RED stuff in the next couple days. do you have it at the RED office? PS he says you are all out of RED drives. Right now we only have a total of 4 between our two REDs we will have out there.

Hey Guys !

We have to shoot with the RED in a rafting boat :)

So we need to protect the cam against water. We first thought on a scuba cam housing, but I am afraid of overheating the camera. Can anybody give us an advice in this scenario?

thanks a lot

Hello Rainer,

My name is Rene from camRade. You can contact jarred ( see earlier this thread ) for the camRade raincover. Cooing is no problem, there are ventilation options on both sides of the camera. We have tested the cover on overheating with someone from RED and this was no problem at all.

Is there a need for a padded cover , let's say like a shouldercase ? If the demand is big enough we will develop this.

1st week spetember the dustcover ( DS RED ) and snowcover ( SC RED ) will be available. You can see them in our booth at IBC.

We have also developed a bag for the RED. You can find the image in the attachment.

Looking forward to the reactions.

Hi Rene !

Thx for the fast reply. The problem at rafting is, that there can come a gush of water at a second. A rain cover sounds beautiful, but I think it doesn't meet our requirements. The cam should be protected in a closed housing like scuba cam or something like that....

best regards
rainer
