Ok, I have been searching for over an hour now about this and find a several discussions leading to no conclusion or answer...:

Is there a way to tell from R3D file the actual frame rate it was shot on in the camera? I hope to dig into this (amongst other things) once I get the SDK, but wanted to hear some feedback or answer - if there is any...

Thank You

Peter

Hi there,

Log & Transfer writes RED metadata into the FCP clip. Specifically, the one you want is:

com.red.redone.framerateDenominator

This is a number that relates to the available frame rate, but you'll need to wait until the SDK is released for the enumeration (though I can tell you that 4=25fps)

You can see it in the metadata output in redline and also in redcine.

I use REDline to generate a CSV file of all my metadata and then log it in a database. The framerate is in there (the clip frame rate anyway, not sure about the project framerate).

The project framerate can be derived from the timecode, of course.

Launch terminal, type redline followed by a return - you'll get a list of options. You'll need to use -printMeta followed by the actual option you want.

Hope that helps...

This is the shell script I use to get a CSV:

Code:
#!/bin/bash

PWD = `pwd`
/usr/sbin/REDline --printMeta 0

find "$PWD" -name "*_001.R3D" -exec /usr/sbin/REDline -i "{}" --printMeta 2 \;

I have that in a file called 'metainfo.sh' in my user home directory.

When I want to make my CSV I go to the directory where my files will be (it will search all sub-directories) and run it like this:

macpro:~ editor$ ~/metainfo.sh > filedata.csv
