Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)
Hello,
I have confgure my final cut to editing my project but i d'ont know how export to have the best definition?
Witch codec can i use to export in 4k,2k or full hd?
Depends on what you are doing. You can edit up to 2K in FCP, if you want to go higher, create an EDL and bring it somewhere for finishing.
I have had great success creating 1080 and 2K uncompressed QuickTimes from RedCine. The benefit is they will take you all the way through grading with the same files, no need for an online later.
ok but if i editing with proxies (i think it's the best) i can't export my project
what is the best worflow?
i try to start to understand with crimson
i import my proxies in FCP
i create a xml in fcp
i import the xml in Crimson
i export the new xml from crimson
i import the new xml in red ciné (but for the moment i have a error message "failed to load construct"
and finally i export my project from redciné
If you use proxies, then you export an EDL for online. At the moment RedCine can't do it so this is what Crimson is for. I haven't used it but I hear it is very good. Not sure if it's working on the latest build yet.
If you want to export your project as is, then either used uncompressed if you have the speed and drive space, or ProRes if not. ProRes is great, but if you have to grade it, it really limits your options.
You export all the clips first in RedCine, giving them the basic look you are happy with.
ok
sorry i'm french
when you say"youhave to grade it" it means color corrrections?
and you propose to work in fcp with uncompressed 4k if i have a fast computer?
so i must compress my files before editing?
