  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Who is STILL waiting to receive their Red drives?

We've now had our Red for over two months and STILL we are waiting for our Red drive. We've been very patient but this is now getting ridiculous.

Come on Red you are letting us down here badly :angry01:

If you cannot deliver then at least offer those waiting an alternative like several 16 GB cards to allow us to use our cameras.

I've just had to hire in a F900 to cover us here and I'm seriously NOT impressed!!!

Unfortunately we are shooting lots of intense and emotional interviews and stopping to change cards is not really practical for this....breaks the flow of the interview totally.

The Red drive will allow us to to choose when we back up and this is the only way we can work right now or NOT as the case is currently.

Seems crazy that Red has pushed the limits of technology, yet they cannot deliver on what has to be one of the simplest parts of the system!

Every day I see our Red sitting there unused is making me more frustrated. :angry02:

I too have had my red for two months and no red drives. Two months of lost wages on something that should have been in stock. That would be cool if they give us a deal on 16 gig CF cards.
 
Same here... Still no drives...
I got the "EVF nearly ready to ship" email a couple of days ago, so I hope they'll be able to ship them at the same time... I really really need them now...

Has anyone received them since they were back ordered ? They were supposed to start shipping again by the last week of July ?
 
Yes, I hear our EVF is ready to ship shortly too, but to be honest I'd much rather have the Red Drive first so we can at least make some money out of the camera.

Simply not good enough and I think Red should be offering cards on loan to those kept waiting.

I've chased Red via e-mail and will keep you posted on their response.

I am less concerned about lost wages than I am about the fact that I have already paid for this equipment and am now paying months of interest on it...with NOTHING to show for it.

Oh well. Hopefully soon. Like Jim said ..."owning a RED camera is a ride...ups and downs..." Or something.

I guess that's true. I just got back from Disneyland, and I wasted a lot of money there too.
 
I feel for all of you as well, but I think given the history of RED you can understand that the wait. Also, there's no way for them to know how many would be ordered, so to see them out-of-stock isn't a surprise.

If you don't have ANY CF cards, that's your fault.

RED isn't to blame here, especially for lost wages. You can't blame them for "lost wages".

It is a Hard Drive. Not exactly cutting edge tech. Yeah I know it has a custom data/power cable but what exactly is the hold up with these things??

RED - I don't usually take my bitching to the boards but some communication with your customers would be nice - I'm getting tired of sending emails that do not get any direct response to the questions being asked.

I'm not going to be so naive as to suggest that we should be compensated, what I am suggesting is that you sort out your customers who have been waiting a couple of months or more on backordered items as a matter of priority because it is extremely frustrating having an incomplete kit.

But to be perfectly honest, I would give up my place in line on my backordered items in a heartbeat for my RR Mattebox which I need NOW - THAT wait is becoming excruciating.

Rant Over and Out. Probably time to take my lithium and have a coffee!!

Very small tolerances on data rate and reliability. As far as I know it requires two identical drives of a specific make, model and firmware.
 
RED-DRIVES started shipping again today. We will not ship at-once with orders until the backorder is taken care of. Backorders for RED-DRIVES (and all other product) is in order of camera delivery date. We are planning on having sufficient quantities of RED-DRIVES to eat through the backorders by the end of the month.

Info over and out. Time for a Tylenol and a RED Bull ;)

Apologies Brent and thanks for the info. It just gets a little frustrating when youre SOOO close to being self sufficient - I'm actually more frustrated by the RedRock situation and my attitude this morning was "F### everyone, I want my stuff NOW". In future I will make sure I'm well medicated before posting!
