This is just a fun topic, but I want to hear what people without or with a Red camera would do for a new Red One. (PLEASE NOTE, I AM NOT GIVING ONE AWAY THIS IS JUST FOR FUN!!)

I think I would honestly let someone chop off the tip of my pinky finger and call me "Nub".

You????

I would place a deposit, wait two years even though there wasn't really a product yet, and find a way to scrounge up the dough. And read Reduser every day to educate myself in the meantime.

Wait, that's what I did. And it was worth the wait and the dough.

I would volunteer my AC services for a year either on the RED ranch construction or various film projects. Maybe even give my left nut...or my right..it's a toss up.

As someone who's used the cameras I can say I would do nothing illegal or even slightly painful to myself or anyone else. I'd probably do even less than I would to get a Kit Kat bar but that's just because those are damn tasty and RED tastes like metal. I *would* go to a rental place and rent one though...

I would avoid paying all federal income taxes for two years time.. Then move to an island and shoot island-videos for the islanders.

I would probably send two people on a plane to shoot the eclipse of the sun when the moon passes, shoot some beautifull women, make a short or two, and a a bunch of commercial. I guess I'd walk into the snow and other difficult to reach places to get a shot that I wouldn't otherwise go, and buy a lot of equipment I wouldn't otherwise buy.

I guess I'd work for the promo departments of some of the biggest local TV stations, and all of a sudden put myself on a plane to a foreign country to get more into some workflows.

Stuff like that...

i would pay 17500 dollars ...

Me too, (except I bought 2). Fortunately, someone gave me the money as a gift. (Actually, waited more than 2 years).

This marks my first ever post in this forum and sorry it will be a bit long!! WOOOO hoooo

What would I do for a RED camera. How do you put a price on such a tool.
At what cost did michaelangelo pay for his brushes, what price did Hemingway pay for his typewriter. I dare not compare myself to any great artist nor am I any kind of working professional. At this point I can only continue watching this movement from the sidelines. AND I have watched this modern technological miracle evolve from a mysterious monolith into the very thing that will democratize the art of motion picture. I WANT, I WISH and but none of that gets me the cash to annie up for one of these $18,000.00+ "Brush". I watched painfully as the RED one was flying off the shelves to many well deserved owners. I have seen what some of you have done and to say Im in awh of what is now capable is an understatment. THAN the anouncment of SCARLET!!!!! I ran out and sank 6k on a MAC PRO, FCP & a AJA box 6 days before the anouncment of RED for Windows/Premiere...... Awwwwwhh cruel world!!!

But to get back on track, I want, I wish, nay I NEED a RED One camera. WHAT WOULD I DO!!! Not my first born, I love my son to much, what I can offer is no much more other a promise to shoot and continue shooting.

I hope to use one of these cameras some day. Till I will just continue saving!!! :bye2: :bye2: :bye2:

What would I do!!

What would I do!!

Alright, let me try the comedic approach!

I would listen to a Mariah Carey CD on repeat for a straight hour. NO No, that price is to high. I would spend a night watching Paris Hilton movie's... NO wait, damn it..... Just give me an hour of "Keeping up with the kardasians"...Ahhhh hell just give me a year in "Gitmo"

:w00t:

I would max out all my credit cards, mortgage my house, and sell my other cameras.

Make a deposit and wait two years.

Oh, shoot. I just did that.

LOL

Yup.

I would still do it again.

Tek

P. S. When thinking RED, remember, it's a camera package of camera body, lenses, and accessories.

Thank God it's not a boat.

...

I would "REDnap" a RED, hold a ransom for $18K and then buy one with that. Then maybe buy some stickers and a T-shirt with the extra $500.

And the winner is...

OK Here's what I would do for a Red:

I would work at an absolutely lousy job for the city with no upward mobility at all, borrow the money from the credit union and send in to Red in the form of a check, only to have it INEXPLICABLY bounce for no reason at all, the money was CLEARLY in the account (Thanks MCU!) Then I would have have the credit union issue Red an apology and send the money overnight in the form of a cashier's check, albeit too late to get my camera for April because of NAB and backorder parts. (AGAIN THANK YOU MCU!!) Then I'd wait for the camera that I should have gotten in march to finally arrive sometime in late may. Yeah... that's what I would do.....

Wait a minute, that's what I ALREADY DID for a RED. Sorry...

I'd sell my wife's ass. I can't believe no-one thought of that already. Duh..?
