  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Super Speed Red Camera

I think not anytime soon is the only sure assumption any of us can make knowing red.

Well, with Scarlet doing 180 FPS bursts, it's clear that overcranking is something that RED is paying attention to. That said, there is of course a massive difference between being able to shoot at 180 FPS, and doing the 1000 FPS that the Phantom does; it isn't trivial (at least at the moment).

I'm sure that we'll see RED push into higher and higher framerates over the next decade as the cameras get upgraded, sensors get higher clock speeds, and new models get announced. However, a camera that is specifically designed for high framerates is still very much a niche product, and as such probably wouldn't justify the cost (I'm pretty sure that such a camera would be prohibitively expensive for the average REDUser; most people who needed the high-speed shots would probably just rent something out specifically for that).

Which is why you can't purchase a phantom if memory serves me correct

We wouldn't be very good distributors if that were the case!

Abel Cine Tech sells as well as rents the Phantom line. They are amazing technology and the CineMags are equally revolutionary.

..well, I will count on MONSTRO - i expect 500fps - just because
jim said ""Monstro" represents the final frontier in the digital vs. film struggle." and ""Monstro" is the platform that surpasses all expectations."

so .. 500fps would definitelly outperform a "normal" filmcamera
but 1000fps sounds a bit far for a 6k sensor which i also expect :)

martin

jim, i hope you are listening. sorry i KNOW you are listening :)

Well, I tried to listen to the forum, and its always calm. I suspect anyone can get info only by reading it, not listening :)
