Apple is too busy making crappy iPhones that don't work properly and is starting to piss me off. Not to sound negative but i hate the new 3G iPhone:angry03: It's such a piece of shi!!. Mine has so many stupid bugs I just want to throw it in the river! And if you try to return it Apple will charge you a 10% restocking fee. What kind of shi!! is that? And don't even try to go into an apple store to have them check out your phone. The one near me still has lines out the door to purchase these lemons and the "genious bars" are always a 5 hour wait or longer. I should have waited so in the end its my fault but fuc!. Hell with the 3G Network, the GPS and the app store if i can't get good reception, battery life that sucks terribly, and bugs that make using your phone a chore rather than a joy!
Mind you, this is coming from someone who works on Apple computers every day, has owned 2 iPhones now, and is routing for them to get these things working properly including the Native R3D support in Color and hopefully in FCP after hearing the adobe news earlier! Come on apple, get your asse!! in gear!

i think you are suffering from the following :

1. iPissed

Being upset at Apple or a product created by Apple. Also: iRate
When the iPhone price went down, early adopters were iPissed

I was iPissed when my iPod nano died on me.

2. iPerbole

The hype surrounding any product Apple unveils.
Claims that the iPhone will change the world are all part of the iPerbole surrounding the cultish company.

more can be found at http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=iPerbole.............:)

So if Apple isn't focusing on the consumer or the pro market, what the fuck are they doing?

Still no signs of blu-ray! Apple needs to take a hit and awake the fuck up!

I love my mac, I love my iPhone. Changed my world!

Just finished a RED piece on Mac going to 35mm, no problems at all and my iPhone helped me find the screening theater!

Just keeping the balance...

I got the new iPhone when it came out and I feel it was worth the 8 hour wait...kind of. Like any piece of new technology it can be buggy. But it's the first phone that I've had that I can email from and post replies on Redused. There are times that I want to shake it like a screaming baby and ask "what is your f-in problem". But I get through it.

Since I'm not the center of the universe and I understand the effects of the laws of thermodynamics as related to large enterprises such as Apple, I find myself grateful for their existence.

Would we have the democratization of video editing without Apple? Perhaps only few of the posters here can remember the price of admission when there was only Avid. It was very high.

We've been all Mac since the beginning with very, very few problems. A brief flirtation with PC computers was painful indeed, but I don't want to rehash the "Mac vs. PC" beaten to death horse. Suffice to say I'll never go to a PC as long as Apple is in the post game.

As for the iPhone, yes, it could be better, what couldn't, except perhaps for the Zippo lighter, but I wouldn't be without it. Had the first version from day one and am now sporting the 3G. Guys, it really is Star Trek. My only problem with it is ATT.

Best regards,

Leo

I have the first iPhone and I get pissed because I always miss calls and the reception is terrible. Oh and the ringer volume sucks and the speaker phone sucks.

Have they fixed the speaker at least??

I suspect your missed calls and poor reception are the result of ATT, not the iPhone, although doubtless a different mobile might have superior reception.

I have had no problems with either the ringer volume or speaker with either the original or 3G. You might try a different ring tone; perhaps your phone has a problem.

While the iPhone is nifty, you might be much better served by switching to a provider that has better coverage where you live/work.

I get good reception at home and in my office, but spotty to no service in the edit suites. If I got no service in my office or home, I would return to Verizon which is outstanding in my locale.

I do like the 3G very much; it has a better hand feel and seems more responsive in general. The GPS is really terrific.

Best regards,

Leo

Why would you wait in line, just make your appointment Online with the genious bars, and show up. They have replaced my iphone three time with out any trouble at all.

If they cant fix it, they give you a new one on the spot, its policy. unless of course you dropped it our got it wet.

I love Apple products like you Leo. But this new 3G phone is truely a piece of Shit! :). Here are my main issues with it and why I would rather just have my first gen iPhone back,

1. Battery Life Sucks - Yes, I know how to optimize the phone for best battery life, but what's the use of having a 3G iPhone if I have to disable it to get my battery to last through most of the day.

2. BUGS - My phones screen turns on when I put my ear to the phone on a call instead of the opposite. Really annoying. It's slow as hell and takes forever to respond sometimes. My switch locations button in google maps does not work at all. The volume still isn't loud enough.

3. The reception seems worse than the old phone. I used to get at least 3 bars in my house now I get 1 if I'm lucky.

4. Still isn't a simple but extremely handy copy/paste feature.

5. I just hate this thing and want to chuck it against the wall at least 5-10 times a day.

I'm glad others are enjoying their phones and if it worked even slightly better I would be fine with a few bugs but this is rediculous. Apple, fix these phones NOW! Somehow I get the feeling no ones listening.

My wife and I got iphones. She loves hers. We got a 1 bar reception at our place but everywhere else is 5 bars.

But only after a day or so owning it, my iphone started to turn off as soon I unlocked it. But then I noticed it wasn't turning off, it was dimming so dark that it looked off. So I made an appointment on the internet at my local apple store, showed up five minutes before time, walked past the lines, waited less then five minutes, walked up to the genius bar, handed it over, the tech looked at it, swapped it for a new one and was out of there in less then 30 minutes. Now I'm a happy owner so far.

Sorry about your troubles.

Hi Mike,

It really does sound like you've got a defective phone. I like the advice of making an appointment and getting it replaced.

I would say that your experience is far from typical of the iPhone in general; I don't believe it's quite fair to condemn the iPhone as a product based on your experience; much more accurate to say, "MY iphone is a piece of ****."

Hope the replacement works well for you! If not, you can always sell it to the Russians for six times what you paid and get a different phone.

Best regards,

Leo

I just made my appointment for tomorrow evening to have it checked out and looked at. Hopefully that will solve the issue.
And yes Leo your right, MY phone is a piece not the whole product line. I admit to being a little discouraged and in my state of madness did not mean to discriminate against the iPhone in general. Bottom line is, I love the iPhone for all that it is when and if it works correctly. I probably got a lemon and hopefully it will be fixed or replaced without any more of these headaches.
The main reason for this thread was to see if others were having similar issues. Sounds like there are others that have had issues and they were resolved fairly quickly. The rest of the software bugs i can deal with until the next software update, which i hear is supposed to be coming pretty soon, with copy/paste, finally!

I've had zero bugs, but a couple observations:

-If you use the GPS, be ready to plug it into your car lighter. The GPS seriously drains the battery life and I mean fast. I used it for less than an hour drive and it showed my battery half depleted.

-I haven't many gripe about this, but from what I gather, the GPS relies on getting it's maps via online and doesn't have them stored in memory like a real GPS unit. So...as soon as I was out of 3G range, it coudn't keep up with the maps realtime. Then, I lost signal altogether rendering the GPS useless. So, this isn't a replacement for a Tom Tom...nice in a lot of cases, though.

-The sound is absolutely clearer. People comment to me all the time.

Mike, get yours fixed...it sounds like you got a lemon. I'm VERY happy with mine...my original one was horrible. This was a big improvement, mostly in the audible quality.

Kevin

...I hear Microsoft will start production on their own version of the iPhone soon, powered exclusively by Adobe software...
