Hi all,
I've been super busy and still haven't finished my music video for those wondering, but I did manage to shoot a friend's wedding the other day on Red as a wedding gift for her.
These were all shot using Build 16 v3.2.4 and the Red 18-50 lens, wide open at ISO500. No post processing other than a couple of tweaks to ISO and curve adjustment in RedCine. RedSpace used throughout.
I framed for CinemaScope ratio to provide as cinematic a result as possible (shot 23.98fps also). A couple of shots are slightly blown on the curtains behind the bride and groom, thanks to the venue's use of a huge spot occasionally which we had no control over. I elected to stay at T3 in order to keep the subjects properly exposed since the spots weren't on full brightness the whole time.
I think one of the main benefits of Red for something like this, beyond the cinema style and depth of field, is that you can essentially pull 4K stills for all the best moments during the day, giving you the ultimate wedding album rolled into the package at DSLR quality. I'm planning to give the bride and groom a nice album with the best Red stills along with a Blu-ray Disc and DVD of the final edit inserted at the back.
Once I've finished the edit I'll post it here (along with the Karuta video, I promise!) but for now enjoy the stills!
Cheers,
Paul
