I know people have experience the Rocketio error in builds 12-14 but we are shooting 16 3.1.5 and just had the error show up. It came as the REC button was pushed, nothing to do with playback (such as described in previous posts about the error)

i just wrapped a shoot last thursday... nothing. no errors whatsoever.. b16 3.2.1 this has been the most stable build i have ever used. even more than build 15.

edit.. oh and i shot 200 gb's of footage on a redrive.. no errors.. shot that in 3 days.. on crane.. dolly.. driving.. handheld.. handheld running... no errors.. no dropped frames.

used cf cards for slow mo.. no errors.

We are also 100% error free on v3.2.1 - and we hit it HARD today!

build 16 errors OH MY!

build 16 errors OH MY!

So i am on set shooting Special Featues segments on a horror movie in China #1928 with a original installment on july 8th which seems that it makes this not 3.2.1 but 5.1 which created wonderful images DAY 1 and playback was also working like a champ. My cam. is a back up cam and so the next day they needed it and uploaded Build 16 3.2.1 on my Red. It has Rocketio_error when we try to record anything and rocketio_error when we try to do any black shading. so no recording happening here? =( Unfortunately this seems like the first build unable to go back to a previous build which i really wish i could do right now because that build worked just great and less filling! Jason,

Can you try to upload the firmware again and restore settings?

Also, if you get a chance to send us a log file we can try to diagnose
from this end.

Got the Rocketio error this afternoon during play back only, V3.2.1. We were trying to play out at 1080 4:4:4 with 2 BNC cables running into a HDlink.

Booted the camera and a pink screen appeared on the mon followed by no picture. Once we pressed play the Rocketio error appeared this was while we were playing of the RED drive. Was not on set yesterday but apparently it worked fine then, simply stopped working today. We couldn't figure it out and tried a second camera, also 3.2.1 same problem (maybe it's me...?).
We eventually got a picture up out of the 720 out but it had a few glitches that were not repeated upon a second play back, so I guess they were temporary drop outs.

What is the Rocketio error and how can we avoid it?
Got a job on in 2 weeks time and would really like not to get it if we need to instantly play back for the client.

Finished a second 12-hour day with Build 3.2.1; no errors of any kind on record or playback. We recorded to both CF and Red Drive shooting at 4, 30, and 96 fps over 23.98.

Shot interiors and very high detail and contrast exteriors, the kind that formerly produced codec errors.

The H proxies render fine for editing before we go RedCine, but the M proxies render with right half of screen solid green.

Good shooting and best regards to all,

Leo

i am gonna take a stab at this but it sounds like they are using a Rocket chipset in the CF card...I am pretty darn sure rocket makes a screaming fast card/chipset/sata....And rocket IO says to me that the rocket cf writer is having an I/O error, most likely it has something to do with buffering recordings etc <---- grabbed out of my A$$ for the fun of it. Jarred am I even close? :)

i'm working on jasonavalos's red issues on set - here's what his screen looks like - along with the rocketio_errors upon record, playback, and black shading.

Hey Jason.. Contact Support at Red, they can take care of you and get your camera back and fixed. This is most likely a connector issue.

Try re-installing firmware

Try re-installing firmware

Hi,
You may have already gotten this taken care of, but if not try re-installing the firmware. On one camera we were using this came up the day after we had upgraded to build 16 (I don't remember which version). It worked fine the previous evening right after the upgrade to 16, but gave us the same errors you are experiencing the next morning. We tried re-setting, power cycling etc. and were about to call Red. But then we let it sit a while and since it was still having the same errors, we tried re-updated the firmware (to the same version we were using) and that fixed it. We went on to shoot with the camera without incident for the next several days - interviews, scenics, etc.

It may be worth a try.

Walter

Well ... I will give you this tip.

When you use the playback controls - you must WAIT for the camera to respond before pressing another button. In other words, press once to switch to playback mode - but WAIT until you see the playback graphic overlay - THEN press the play button again -

You can actually "FORCE" the camera to have a Rocketio error - just by pushing playback control buttons very quickly.

Slow down your button pushin' -
