I'm wondering if by the time my Pancro's ship, a new Mysterium sensor where IR filtration is no longer an issue will just be a month or two away.

What does everyone think of this? Could someone from Red give any IR hints about Mysterium X ?

I suppose having sweet Pancros is always a good idea, IR or not. But I was thinking about getting the Rosco TruColor IR and some regular old ND filters, to save money and also to get them immediately.

Also, as per Evin's review, the Rosco is the "fragile butterfly," I was thinking of getting an additional filter tray for the Rosco to permanently live in to help protect it a bit more from handling etc.. What could I get to hold the filter tray? Do they make pouches that size?

I don't think it is possible to create a strong IR filter (it would need to be more than 10 stops) that would have high and even transmission in the visible spectrum. I don't think such material exists.

All sensors and still cameras have this problem, not just Red One and thus far Pancro seems to have the best and affordable solution. It works very well. It is best not to let IR into the lens or other filters, rather than bounce it around off the sensor filter or anywhere within the optical path. It is a superior solution.

You will also get Pancro filters much sooner than Mysterium X - it is a safe bet, I mean guess :clown2:

Has anyone tried using a tilt on the filters? The Vocas mattbox has a tiltable front filter slot. Just a thought.

Thanks everyone.

I'm worried about the Pancros now:

Evin, any thoughts?

I haven't seen any reflections that I thought were a problem, they happen with all filtration but proper light discipline and stacking all filters BEHIND the Pancro should be adequate in just about all situations. Truth be told though I did buy the Tiffen HM too, although I've yet to use it.

Ahhh, Mate, you are embarrassing us  Try www.pancro.com or search this board. If all that fails, click the link below

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaah and brand name of a filter. ok, something so simple.

My 5 cents worth, I was shooting with these type of IR filters and man did we get some serious square sun reflections in our shots and also some filter bounce on our shots due to having 2 filters in the matte box.

We ended up going back to a single tiffen N1.2 (not IR) and life came back to normal.

You can almost get caught up in the hype, luckly we didn't.
Some times old school filtration still works.

Thanks for the Link Pawel Achtel, I'll keep and eye on these dudes.
