Hello.

NIKON INSTALL VIDEO: The Un-official Gotham Guide...click here.

Here is a rough cut and slop guide (typos included) to installing the Nikon mount on a RED ONE. Something to perhaps hold you over until the official RED video comes out. Its not the best, nor the safest way to do an installation and I would highly recommend covering the sensor if you don't have steady hands.

Enjoy. (final cut will be uploaded later)

Pretty Slick editing. Sorry we didn't get to hook up on the Zeiss Zoom. Perhaps another time. My ticket is getting pretty close (#2263). But again cool beans on the presentation. Very well put together!

Thank you Haskel,

Much better than any other.

I want this zeiss!!

I agree Jason, the game is certainly changing...I am looking for a follow focus system that has a reverse idler gear for lenses that focus in the wrong direction, does the arri FF4 do this?

Coming SOON to RED.com... NIKON MOUNT INSTALL, NIKON MOUNT BUSHING KIT INSTALL, and FIELD BACKFOCUS ADJUSTMENT QT's.

Great video! Only thing I would do differently is plugging the port with a wad of lint free paper (I use Kimwipes) to protect the sensor glass. It is a habit from changing the mounts on my film cameras because dropped screws could fall into the camera body cavity.

not sure if the FF4 does that.
check the link its what i could find.
hey im in NYC as well, we should grab a beer and chat.
starting a feature beginning of august for 3 weeks as well.

Hey Jason, lets do that. I will be gone on short film shoot all next week but PM and lets sync up, would like to know what your working on.

cheers.

Good tip, I just did not have any on hand but its certainly the smart thing to do. I would like to make some kind of custom plug that simply sits inside the port and creates a roof over the sensor.

Doug Underdahl, creator of the Nikon mount, uses a lens tissue at the sensor and balloon blown up to fit the port which I have adopted for all my mount swaps. The balloon has the added benefit of attracting dust through static charge. Black balloons let you see the dust. I keep a bag of balloons with my mount kit.

Yeah this system seems to do the job, he obviously knows what he is doing. ;)
