  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

When?

ISO controll?
(or should we just develop from the LIN like in Scratch?)

Do we get back our QT export options?

Colordata in XML?

Render in RedLine?

EDL support!!!! ( :) )

Anything else?

Still having issues with RedCine rendering a single frame out - would be nice to get this fixed.

Would like to be able to turn off the preview window and have RedCine only render to the output file.

I'd love to be able to switch between apps. The F11 shortcut to minimise Redcine doesn't work for me - F11 is my volume- key. Same goes for FCP where I've had to remap another key to switch into full screen mode.

Anyone know if I can do this for Redcine?

Of course if I could just CMD-TAB.....

Open the SDK soon and let us move beyond REdcine and bypass it all together....thare are great developers out there waiting to release tools that are way better, faster and very affordable. This software is the biggest weakness of everything that RED is offering. Love the camera, the accessories but really hate the software..... and honestly I don't foresee RED/Assimilate improving Redcine much further...they haven't done anything major to it since it has been released (unlike the major camera builds)....

Hi,
try to use the "fn" on the left bottom side of your keyboard :
'fn' + 'F11' should work to minimize RedCine.

Nils.

Firewire out - like After Effects - would be very useful for us "low budget" folks.

Have you tried FUNCTION F11?

I love REDCINE. I hope it does get developed more - perhaps into a "Pro" version that we have to purchase.

you can force the f11 key to be the f11 key....how to explain..my english...you know...the place where everything is listed...boxes...monitor...mouse...etc. there you can switch it

Basic functions:
EDL support. Even basic cuts would be enough.
Audio support. Even basic cuts would be enough.
QT *options* support.

If red wants to improve the software:
framebuffer other than dvi->hdsdi converter
extended colorcorrection toolkit.

Quality assurance & debugging.

That's what scratch is, although it's more money than you're probably thinking.

Scratch isnt an alternative to redcine.
17.500$ camera owners dont need to spend another 60.000-120.000 on a software to get an edl controlled output.

Alt F9 in Windows world minimises RC.

Also, hit the "Windows" key, and click your mouse in the deadspace (ie not on a button).

That also works. Discovered it by accident.

AUDIO? on PC would make my life AMAZING about right now....then I could export quicktimes in MjpgA WITH audio and start cutting on a PC RIGHT NOW!

I just want to be able to export to the codec of my choice on a PC.

This was promised way back in 2006 at NAB, when I placed my reservation.

I have two Matrox Axio LE systems (a substantial investment) that can't do anything with Red footage, unless I output uncompressed .mov files, then recompress them to Matrox .avi's. It's a huge time liability, one that I have a difficult time justifying to my clients.

I just want to be able to do this in one step, directly from Redcine.

In addition to the previous posts (especially about audio), I would really like a render "pause" button or capability. I would also like to be able to specify a range of frames or clips to render from the clips on the RedCine timeline. If any of this is currently possible, please feel free to slap me up 'side the head, but while doing so also tell me how.

BTW, RedCine (3.1.2) is way better at being able to scroll through clips while in full resolution - it seems like it goes into a lower res during the scroll and then back to full when the cursor stops. Perfect. Very responsive, and I'm able to jump around clips and the timeline while still being able to see full res, which is all I care to see.

Also, I've tried putting a lot of clips (100) on the timeline, with 4K, 3K, 2K, 16:9, 2:1, all mixed on the same timeline and I've been able to render without a hitch. Huge improvement over previous versions. Well done Red Team!

EDIT: It's not very much lower res while scrolling; really incredible.

I would also like to be able to specify a range of frames or clips to render from the clips on the RedCine timeline.

You can specify the range of frames per clip in the "shot" section, but if you don't want a clip to render at all, I think you better take it out of the timeline.

Personnaly I need redcine to:
- support audio
- import edl (or xml from fcp, avid, premiere, but without the need of crimson)
- video out (to a second monitor, like HD-SDI or DVI)
- no preview during render
- render avi as well as debug quick time render (as for me some codecs works some don't)
- bigger "curve" tool
- 64 bit version
- linux version
- better threaded (design for 8-16 cores and in future even more)
- create "look" file that you can upload into the camera
- ....

thanks,
antoine.
