Hi, question to the Red Team about 7" LCD: When will it be available, and will it be delivered from the beginning in large quantities?
Thank you!
Marc

The online RED store does have some specs on both the RED and RED PRO LCD's, too. The timeline in Big Jon's delivery thread is most up to date...

Brent, is it an item like the EVF, 100 per month, or do you ship, once available, in large quantities? Summer release = August?
Thanks!
Marc

As long as the in-house tests are going well, I sure hope to get one with my package sometime maybe around Sept., but of course this is a RED-hot item, and camera holders get pref, so newbie owners might expect a shiny 7" gem around...? Anyway, I think LCD's can be manufactured in far greater numbers and quicker than say, an EVF!? ;>)

Has anyone got to look at a Beta unit of this monitor. It just seems like if the pixel count is the same theres not much to be gained. of course its larger, but I'm just wondering how that translates.

There's more than just the pixel count.
I haven't seen it, but from the specs they give on the Red Store, there are huge improvements in contrast, brightness, response time, and most importantly viewing angles. Plus it's bigger and needs less power.
And 1024x600 for a 7" monitor in not bad at all anyway.

5,6" MONITOR Specs:
  • Resolution: 1024×600
  • Response time: 50ms
  • Contrast: 250:1
  • Brightness: 550 nits
  • Viewing angle: 60 degrees H, 50 degrees V
  • Power consumption: 4.6W
7" MONITOR Specs:
  • Resolution: 1024×600
  • Response time: 30ms
  • Contrast: 400:1
  • Brightness: 1000 nits
  • Viewing angle: 130 degrees H, 110 degrees V
  • Power consumption: 2.8W

The battery's not the issue here. Who can see it when, from where and how well, is above and beyond the first offering that was given at 5.6"... Rejoice, and take a number!
