We had two different cameras and notice that the EVF on one was brighter than on the other... After teching everything the determination was made and confirmed that the problem was the iron core on one of the cables.

Sorry if this has been posted previously. I tried searching and nothing came up.

Marque, can you elaborate on this? What do you meant by iron core on one of the cables. Are there two types of cable, one is iron and another not? Can we determine the difference by just looking at them? Lim

Some people put an iron "donut" if you while to help shield cables... Its usually on power cables the tubular shape plastic thing that is snapped onto power cables is an iron core.

Hi Marque, I believe all cables for LCD or maybe EVF will have that shield shipped to us. Don't know about the EVF as I am expected them to ship to us this week. Understand older cable do not have this shield, if I understand what you meant. Lim

Yes, i have got the older and the new ones and only the new ones have this shield on it,

Was it the same effect when you put the iron core on the other cable?

Well I'm sure they are ferrite but I've always known them to be called iron cores...

Yes when we placed the core on another cable the brightness dropped on the EVF significantly.

I'd like to hear an official word on this as my EVF just got back from servicing and I was told by a Red team member to make sure and always use a cable with ferrite for the EVF. I was told it is less important for the lcd. I don't have my camera in front of me but I'll check it tomorrow.
