Hey everyone, Douglas has solved the issue with the wobble with the Nikon mount, by installing small rubber bushings under the springs. This allows newer lenses to be very firm in the mount, and if you have older lenses you can remove the bushings to allow them to fit.

Just wanted to pass along the good news, Contact Brent for a user installable bushing kit if you already have the mount, all mounts going out over the last week and in the future will have the bushings in place.

Thanks all :)

Sweet!

I just dropped him a message to get one of the kits.

Thanks, Jarred!

Everyone that has taken delivery of a NIKON MOUNT will get an email from RED announcing that the kits are ready, confirming mailing address, providing a link to an install video and letting you know who to contact with questions.

So, no need to PM/email me you want one, help in on the way shortly :)

no it doesn't, but if you ask Brent nicely he may just send you the upgrade kit anyways :)

Send me an email, Michael, for me to forward along to the rep taking care of this and we should be able to slip a kit in the mail for you. You just won't get the 137 step, 2 hour instructional video on how to install, haha.

I just had my rep send me the Nikon mount bushings... where do they go exactly? What is the installation procedure?

thanks

Jean

Jean,

I sent you an email. Let me know if you need further assistance.

Same for me with quicktime 7.5. Is their another way to know what to do with the rubber pad? And specially where to stick it?
Many thanks
Brice

OK, here is the quick and dirty version... You'll need some good tweezers.

Step 1: Spread the spring (see image)
Step 2: Insert bushing into one side (see image)
Step 3: Pinch spring back into place
Step 4: Repeat Step 1-3 with other bushing and spring
Step 5: Happily shoot with Nikon glass

My ZF primes and 2.8 ED zooms are both really require some force when turning into locking position. Should I remove the bushings or is it designed to be that way? I mean, it is solid but... maybe too much?

I'm assuming I have this new mount because I just took delivery a week ago.

Having issues with the ruber thingy. Always poping out after changed few lenses. Doesn't seems reliable to me. Did I miss something?
