  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED hits Finland!

I'm surprised!

I'm surprised!

I didn't realize Ari Koivunen was this known outside Finland, he's certainly popular here as he won the idols competition and his albums have topped the finnish charts.

There is atleast one camera rental company in Finland with Red one. I'd guess that it could be used quite a lot in Finland as the production budgets are really small, feature films are usually shot here with s16-film.

... more validation that RED is steadily achieving solid penetration across the globe!

Häakon, :-) ... you mean the Swedes are still waiting for getting their first Red One? Or do you mean that anything behind the Gulf of Bothnia is periphery? Sorry Häakon, couldn't resist.

For the others to understand, Swedes and Finns are like brothers, the Swedes being the elder one. Some time back in the history we were one and the same country, and nowadays the ice hockey matches between the two nations is great fun in both countries, although both sides almost hate to loose to the other one.

I'm Norse, actually, but we get to take digs at the Swedes too. :) I don't think Ari is too well known in the states... I just dig that kind of music and thus naturally seek it out. Finland is making some absolutely wonderful art right now!

I just got a kick out of seeing the RED in use in their video... obviously most of the reports we see are from here in the USA, so it's cool to see it show up unassumingly up all over the place!

Found it surprising that anybody on this forum knew him. But good for Ari. I'm not sure, but perhaps it was those same guys who borrowed my RED bricks some time ago.

Here's another Finnish heavy nightlife guy, great gray owl, shot last monday evening. It's a frame from a 2K 120fps clip taken in very low light. Not bad at all.

What goes in the BG of the video? Stormy skies? An ancient army?
They actually just replaced the green with white and filled it with a bunch of swirly inkblots...

Not sure what it has to do with the song at all, although I mean no offense to the director. I just thought it was cool that they were shooting with RED. Of course, the YouTube quality does it no justice.

Lauri, that owl is fantastic. Really makes me want to pack my bags and get out of Smell-A for awhile!

Even so the music is kinda out of my genre I actually like it.

I tough the kid in the first clip was about to knock the cameraman in the head with his stick:) but then decided to just walk around instead.

On the second clip I think the white was a good choice and I do like the swirly inkblots, especially when they are shown in a ramping mode, will be using some in my current project now in Pre-Production.

Also I got reminded how Viking looking Finland still is, in a good way off course, I have a great friend from Finland and went there to watch Him almost brake his neck while taking Jeeps with Super Ultra large half deflated tires down the Snowy sloppy mountains.

ciao

At the moment we are filming first full lenght feature film to be shot with red in Finland. We have already filmed two weeks and travelled from Ice sea to Helsinki. Film is a road movie and we´ve been in boats ( In Norway ) and we´ve had some car rigs and I have nothing bad to say about Red, No codec erros or dropped frames.. It´s a Redolution for indie film.
