  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

My (possibly insane) plans to shoot an "IMAX" timelapse movie... :)

this sounds like a great idea.but dont forget that you will need very good music to go with this film.beceaus if you dont have impressiv music most people will be bored after 5 mins.and i dont think that 50k will be enough budget to do nice orchestra music or hire a good composer to do a 45 mins soundtrack.

After reading some of these suggestions and giving this some thought, I think I am going to spend 3 or 4 months from like July - Oct and shoot a ton of new timelapse. Then I'll cut a 10-min demo this fall, write a proposal and budget, and try to shop the project around, starting with IMAX, Discovery, PBS, HDnet, etc. I wonder if any of you guys who have industry contacts would be willing to point me in the right direct this winter once I've got a knock-'em-dead demo reel and a proposal?

much appreciated!

Could call man. This is a spectacular idea for you! I really like seeing people go for it like that... it's inspiring. Best of luck.

Is Yours available commercially or at least for rental? :waaa: It is the lack of such a products on the market that has pushed me to build my own...

Yes, it is available for hire

yep just GO Tom!

I can help with the IMAX, and not just by pointing in the right direction... :innocent:

Any site with specs, images (both rig and filmed footage), pricing and conditions? If not, could You PM me what You can? I think Tom would be interested too, and so would many others...

Alright Tom! Thats the spirit.

Just remember to budget a good amount for gas..which could easily end up being your largest expense.

Hi Tom. Check out the camera we talked about a couple of months ago. The Super Harp. While at the NAB show I stopped by their booth. They had amazing footage taken of Mt. Fuji, the Serengeti Waterfalls, and the Alaskan Aurora Borealis shot at night. You could see the stars very clearly. You can do TL with that camera.

You are an amazing talent and you should go for it. If being on the road is too long maybe smaller project based trips?

Hey Tom,
Go for it man. As others have said, consider a backup body.
Keep a journal.
Cheers,
Harry
