I just opened my newly delivered RED, great...looks nice....but my word it's noisey, is everyones this noisey, i can't imagine recording diologue with a camera this noisey, its like a small washing machine? I tried a search on the forums but couldn't find anything as the word fan was deemed to small for a search???

can anyone help?

thanks

Turns off/goes silent when recording. Fan modes are listed in the manual. Since I'm mostly recording grass, lizards, ants and the occasional butterfly in my backyard... I've just placed it in the hot mode. I somehow take pleasure in knowing its running full blast.

ahhhh, thank you so much, i feel such a wally, you can't imagine my horror for the last ten minutes sat listening to this noise...haha what a relief. I can go to bed now, it's 2 am here and i have to stop playing. :)

Is it really supposed to go "silent" ? Because I can still hear the fan when I press record, regardless of the mode I'm in.

there are a few fan settings you can apply, to get the levels that are comfortable for you.

I guess you didnt spend your formative years sneaking out your bedroom window and going to every rock concert in the region.

it does drop to a very silent mode on record but its not completely silent, neither is my aaton or Moviecam, so that's fine.
