Hello everyone!

I am getting ready to purchase my Red One. Very exited! At the mean time I am facing a dilemma of which way to go: 19mm or 15mm system. Please share your thoughts! Also any input on what 3rd party accessories I should get with it would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you in advance!

depends how the rental houses near you are equipped.
mine has both 19 mm and 15 mm.

i think la is the 15 mm place.I`m not sure.
just ask

I have 15mm though I wish I had 19 at times, the offset is a pain and I would love to have the cage but it is only available in 19 and it is damn handy to use when doing car mounts and such. My local house is Panavision and they are all 15mm thus the choice to get 15mm.

If you are building the camera from the ground up, and buying all your accessories instead of renting them, I'd say go with 19mm, since it's what's native to the camera.

I'm in LA, which is still a mainly 15mm studio town, and not likely to change. But the only thing I rent is lenses, so it doesn't matter (but if I do have to rent anything that mounts on rods, I'll have to scramble to find a house that has a 19mm adapter).

15mm or 19mm

15mm or 19mm

IMHO, if you live in Los Angeles, outfit your camera with 15mm support. I purchased my top combo cheeseplate and bottom plate from Element Technica http://www.elementtechnica.com The 19mm system has been available since 1994, so I don't think Los Angeles will be changing anytime soon.
