Hey guys,

Is there an adapter to mount a Red (or any make) PL mount lens on, say, a Nikon SLR? Strange request, I know, but I have my reasons...

Bummer. Though I suppose it'd be possible to convert a PL lens into a Nikon mount. I've only seen this done the other way, though.

lol. I'm sure you'd find a ton of people on this forum who would gladly trade their Nikon lenses for your PL lenses. Nikon lenses are made for the Nikon SLR cameras and work like a charm! If you get a modern zoom it will even record the Metadata....
Don't try to put a square peg into a round hole...

Hi!

I'm super-interested in this. I started another thread a few months back. In fact, I want to put a BNCR mount on a DSLR, but similar to this (perhaps better chances with the BNCR since the FFD is even bigger with BNCR than with PL).

Anyway, the new Sony CMOS DSLR seem to be a good candidate. More or less the same sensor size as the RED, and bigger FFD than the Nikons.

I'm wondering if I should keep pursuing this. Everyone says it's damn near impossible to put motion picture mounts on DSLRs.

I would think this to be possible with a Canon dSLR. If there is enough room to put a proper Nikon mount on one, surely there is enough room for a PL mount?

Hi,

Phisically putting a PL mount on the camera is not the issue, it's using PL mounted lenses that have a rather short FFD . The mirror will hit the back of the lens.

If you only wanted to use 50mm+ lenses or Cooke zooms it probably could be done. Chuck?
