Anton/Bauer has an array of options for the RED ONE cameras:

QR-RED ($295.00) - Gold Mount that mounts to the red hard drive holder and allows you to use any Anton/Bauer snap-on battery.

QR-HotSwap-GM ($195.00) - Hot Swap adapter that mounts to the QR-RED and allows you to use (2) two Dionic 90 batteries, and "hot swap" them, avoiding having to power down and re-boot.

CA-RED ($279.00) - 4p XLR to 6p LEMO 10' foot cable for use with the Anton/Bauer CINE VCLX or VCLX/2, belts that have a 4p XLR out or other block-style batteries with a 4p XLR 14.4v output.

CINE VCLX ($2595.00) - 560watt hour 14.4v/28v simultaneous output NiMH battery that will power a RED camera for approximately 8 hours. This is a block-style battery.

CINE VCLX/2 ($1595.00) - 280watt hour 14.4v/28v simultaneous output NiMH battery that will power a RED camera for approximately 4 hours. This is a block-style battery.

Please feel free to contact me directly if you have any applications questions in regards to using Anton/Bauer with RED cameras. I can be reached at pdudeck@antonbauer.com.

Thanks.
Paul

Abel carries all of these products and has set up Red bundles with special pricing. More information is available at our Red Store, on our website at abelcine.com or by clicking our banner ad here on reduser.

The block batteries are particularly nice (coming from a guy who owns just about every type of onboard they make)
Anyone want to buy a pair of lightly used Victory batteries? ;)
Cheers,
Harry

BTW- Abel has excellent pricing on these bundles!

Paul I sent this question to AB's website last week but never got a reply.

What cable do I use to power the RED camera using the AB Powerstrap 13 battery belts?

What about the Quad Battery Holder (QBH-HD)? Seems like this would be a good option for those of us who want the long life of the block-style batteries, but already own hytrons.

Paul or Mitch,

maybe you can answer this Q.

I have a tandem 70. could I use the AB-Red to power the camera and
attach the tandem to that so when I need to switch batts I just plug in and
there is no loss of power. seems like this should work

Thanks

Mitch,

Does Abelcine sell their Red deal products to overseas customers?

Dave,

I don't know if the Tandem 70 has the juice to power the hungry beast that is RED. 70 means 70 watts of power, and I believe the RED draws closer to 100w, especially if there are a few accessories hooked up.

I don't know if we can sell this product overseas. We do sell others. Different vendor agreements with different manufacturers have various restrictions. Best to send me an email with your contact info and I'll ask a Sales Rep. to get back to you.

No.
I tried my T-70 the very first day I got my Red. Would not even make the camera fart. The camera is just over its capacity...
A little disappointing because it's such a neat device. I have one with each of my other cameras.
Maybe A/B will come out with a slightly larger (90 or 100 watt) clip-on power supply/ battery charger device...
Cheers,
Harry

ratz,

thats the perfect solution. but with the new build startup times maybe not such a big deal.

still it would be nice.

Is the QR-HotSwap-GM usable with all other brands of batteries using the gold mount, or only with Anton Bauer batteries?

Thanks!

The Dionic 90 sized battery weighs considerably less than other Anton Bauer battery types such as the Hytron 140. Too much weight hanging off this adapter would pull it from the camera's battery mount plate, leading to intermittent contact or even physical breakage. Because of this, the mount is specifically shaped to only allow Anton Bauer Dionic 90 or Hytron 50 (same case design and similar weight) batteries to mount. I have no idea as to other manufacturers who also use the 3-pin Anton Bauer mount, but if you put too much weight on the adapter it will cause a failure, one that might cost you money. Note that the weight of the adapter with two Dionic 90 batts is still less than the weight of a single Hytron 140, and it delivers more power and allows for hot-swapping.

What cable do I use to power the RED camera using the AB Powerstrap 13 battery belts?

Hi Sam,
Sorry about that. I have been in and out of the office the past three weeks and I have not seen the email.
A few quick things; first, The PowerStrap 13 has a maximum current draw of 7amps and is a 55wh battery. If the RED camera is drawing between 70-90 watts, then you will be at the edge of the belts 7amp rating. If the circuit breaker has a low tolerance, it may trip. Also, you will only get about 30-40 minutes of run-time with the belt if it is operating at 100%.

To answer your question, I don't have an exact cable for your application as the PowerStrap 13 has a 5p XLR on it. The CA-RED cable goes from 4p XLR to 6p LEMO. So, my options to you would either be to change the 5p XLR in the belt to a 4p XLR or change the 4p XLR on the CA-RED cable to a 5p XLR.

Regards,
Paul

Mitch Gross pretty much answered this, however, if another snap-on battery has a larger profile than the Dionic 90/ HyTRON 50, then it physically will not fit onto the QR-Hot Swap-GM

Is that each??? I need to raise my pricing... I'm not charging enough.

Yes, it is each! We use the same cable that Panavision specs out on their cables, which is a very durable rubber coated cable. In cold weather, it holds up great, can be run over by cars/trucks and is better than a plastic sheathing.

Hi Harky,

Yes, the QBH-HD will work great for those with Anton/Bauer snap-on batteries already. You can use any snap-on batteries, as long as they are the same chemistry. List price on the QBH-HD is around $575.00.

Regards,
Paul

Doesn't any typical v-mount battery work with the RED?

Yes, Any standard V-lock battery will work with the RED, But, only the RED Brick will pass remaining battery capacity back to the camera. All others will only show DC.

You could also use the V-lock to Gold Mount adaptor plates and use Anton Bauer.
