Hi,

I am doing a 3 clip test... FCP to DS, via Crimson and REDCINE. All is going well except at the final stage. I export DPX from redcine and copy them across to DS, then import my edl into DS and relink. My first clip comes in fine but the next 2 don't. I have checked the timecodes in the DPX headers and they are all good, matching the EDL. So I am very puzzled as to why this would work for one clip but not the other 2.
There is significance in that it is only the 1st clip that comes in.
I did a second test, this time only with teh last 2 clips. Again only the 1st clip came in. What's going on?
Any helps is greatly appreciated,
Dec

Adding to this...
My workflow is all 25p. Yet when I scroll through my internediaries in REDCINE the clips are 24p. I have confirmed this happens whether I choose a framerate of 25 before or after pointing to the intermediaries.
Could that be the cause of my non-linking dpx?
Has anyone else come across this bug?
Another thing; I have burnnt in SoURCE TC into the dpx. The dpx tc matches the edl tc, but they do not match the "source tc".

Hmmm. After some experimenting, it looks like I was wrong. :(

There is still a way to do this, but it's more time-consuming.

In REDCINE...

1) Import clips
2) Go to the Library
3) Click on the bottom third of a clip's thumbnail, to expose additional metadata for that clip. In *this* menu, change the framerate from 23.976 to 25.
4) Do this for all clips. No way to batch this right now.

Although it's a bug in Redcine it's not in Redline - if you export using redline from Crimson your timecode will be OK.

Also make sure that the project was shot with TOD code and not edgecode (- as often on a DPX confirm that loks at timecode only you'll get the same shot over and over (as all edgecode is at 01.00.00.00 hrs). This is something any good DIT should check at the start of a shoot (ie the whole post route).

The above applies if you have edited on proxies when shot edgecode. Of course if you have L and T'd into FCP it is overridden to TOD so your edl will match a TOD sequence of DPX.

Hope that helps
