I don't know if it's too late to ask for this, but could you give us two choices for image size with the new L&T, the original 2k prores and a 1k prores? If you do that, I'll never have to use compressor.

I second that!!!!
on the feature films i've been shooting in 4k, but find that editing in 2k is still too 'heavy' for editing so with so much footage, so i end up using a compressor droplet to force 1k...
obviously, a L&T 1k would be SO MUCH BETTER!!!

Have you tried putting the RT settings to medium? Apparently this doesn't give too much of a quality hit but frees up the processor significantly.

I haven't tried it. It's more about 1k files helping a lot with rendering time and storage space.

not too late to ask, but easier said than done...have been considering this for awhile and now starting to look into it.

Going from 4k to 1920x1080p ProRes would also be nice. Since alot of the broadcast industry is in 1080p this would be easy to work with for simple HD.

What? Can't you just tell Log and capture to halve it one more time? I mean, I might not know about this programming kind of stuff, but I like to assume that I do and my assumption is that it's totally easy.

Could there also be a debayer quality control slider in there. IE: Fast encode, medium encode or High encode?

I can, but you can't. That is, it's an FCP/L&T user interface issue. To get something I have to give up something...I'm trying to figure out either what to give up or how to have it all.
