  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Do I dare to upgrade to B16? Shooting begins in 9 hours?

I was just about to hit the upgrade, when I saw that Red Alert for B16 is coming later..

I´ve got a shooting in nine hours, and thought about playing around with B16 until then, but having a working RedAlert at the shoot is more important at the set for checking the footage.

Are we talking a couple of days later, or are you just waiting for all firmware downloads to decrease? It like the best birthday present ever, but Im not allowed to open it just yet :sorcerer:

i did it a week ago with an alpha and everything works great...on the third day of mattel commercials right now..with 16.3.1.1....

go for it!!!!

You've got a shoot in 9 hours. You've got firmware you have not tested or played with. RED Alert is the only tool that supports it, and you've never tested that with the new build. And if for some reason, things don't work... you can't roll back to 15.

I know what *my* decision would be with paying clients. : )

Well, its the Red Alert support Im worried about.. Not the firmware upgrade by itself (If B15 betas has worked sofar, Im sure B16 will aswell.. In Red I trust :)..)

I just want to know that Red Alert will be up for download pretty soon. I hate to show up without anything to check the material up close with... Ahh, the agony..

Unless it's a low light shoot that isn't due to post for a few weeks I'd wait. Remember, build 15 has terrific image quality.
 
I have to agree, I am waiting for both Red Alert & Red Cine. I could get a call tomorrow and I would have to turn down a job due to potential post workflow issues.

Although I am very tempted!
 
Sweet 16 seems great, but don't risk it.. your client is happy with the current look, that's why your on the shoot...let a few rabbit's go through the hole on ANY companies new software/firmware revs!

Releasing B16 before Redcine is a true example of Red experimentalist idealogy....I LOVE IT! Thanks for the carrot.

Experience says to be patient...

I look forward to the moment before i hit the final OK button on the firmware upgrade!
 
i guess that is why i have 31...in red i trust.
