There is still a QT gamma issue with Build 16.

As with previous builds:

If you open the QT Reference files, they will look dark.
If you open in FCP, they will look dark on the computer monitor (but correct on an external monitor).

If you open in Color or Shake or After Effects, they will look correct.
If you open in RED Alert! or REDCINE and output a QT movie, they will look correct in QT Player, After Effects, FCP, etc.

We are working with Apple to fix this issue.

Jim what about the others DI tools look ?

If I don't upgrade to B16 yet, should I still install the new RedAlert? Because of new features maybe. Can't upgrade to 16 yet as RedCine is needed.

Jim,
what is the recommended version of QT to use on Mac ?
Is 7.5 ok ? Or should we stay with an earlier version ? Which one is recommended ?

Nils.

Just came out, not tested yet.

thanks jim. i have been wondering about the answer to that for a while now. so if you were doing dailies for a client....would you live with the dark images in QT and Final Cut, and explain that when they look at it on an external monitor it is all okay.

i`ll bet the apple coders will listen to jim

Nobody listens to me... if they did, this camera would have been done in two months from the start date!

Jim

One might hope that the Red-Apple relationship would extend to sharing beta copies of new software releases; but it seems that is not the case, in at least one direction.

We had build 16 to finish!

Upgrade

Upgrade

Jim correct me if I am wrong, but it sounds like us PC users should hold off a few days to get the new REDCine if we want to do anything outside of camera with the footage.

Or we can upgrade now, play with the camera, and then load in REDCine this weekend if all goes well.

Sound right to you?

I think it all depends if you have time to mess around with the build and nothing major to shoot. REDCINE will be coming soon.
