Hello Red community,
I´m going to shoot a cinema movie this year with RedCams.
90% of the shots are night/ext. HandHeld or SteadyCam.
I´m searching for the smallest and lightest solution to downconvert the 720p signal to analogue PAL and transmitting this signal (live) wireless to the directors HandHeld monitor.
Up to now, i think the best solution is an AJA "OnBoard" Downconverter (HD10MD3) to NTSC, transmitting this signal via an Transvideo Titan System (Rx+Tx, PAL+NTSC) to an MultiFormat "HandHeld" Monitor (e.g. Panasonic BTL80 or TC7 which both can handle NTSC + PAL signals).
- OK, two boxes attached to the cam and lots of cables (-;
Is there a more elegant solution out there?
Smaller Downconverter to PAL or NTSC arround?
Wireless, light and small TransmittingSystem for 720p?
(the image will be "just" for the director to check the framing, so resolution is not the issue here.)

Any hints?

Cheers,
Emanuel

no probs, please let me know how you get on with your research as i am in a similar situation to you.

Has anybody tried these ?
http://www.blackmagic-design.com/products/miniconverters/

I didn't find any weight information, but it doesn't seem too big, and it's definately one of the cheapest on the market ($495).
It supports 720P, but not 1080P (not yet at least, they say the firmware can be upgraded)

I would love to hear some feedback on these...

Nils.

if these convert HDMI to SDI would it also send the RED menus to an SDI monitor.
