Phenomenal RED repair service - thankyou

Camera repair in Asia

Camera repair in Asia

We had a camera go down in Manila Philippines, with a bit of smokes and smells to go!! We were driving to Niagara Falls NY when I called Red, they suggested FedEx back to CA, USA. 2 days for Manila-CA FedEx, 1 day for Nate & Brian of Red to fix, 3 days for FedEx to return to Manila. In less than a week, the smokin Red camera was up and running. Two weeks later, we started filming "Hooperz" in Malaysia in June, probably the first Red 4K feature film in Asia for release on 35 mm film. Congrats to the Red team, this kind of service was previously unheard off in our industry.

Keep it up bomb squad!!

Oli

Red 675, X774, X349, etc.

Got mine back from Red on Monday. A problem hadn't been fixed and I had to send it back again right away. A guy in Sweden had the same experience. He got his back and the problem was still there. Guess it's a scandinavian thing...

Lost about $9000 dollars worth of rent now while it's been in transit.

But the images are great. (Didn't want to sound too negative but just turn down another week of rent and I'm alittle bitter....)

another happy customer here, our 2nd red had issues with its lcd, phone support from red fixed it.

However, we *need* a 24/48 response center in europe for swapping cams - red üroduction insurances are still way to expensive in the EU and eating all the better pricing red makes possible.

I think it would help a lot if RED could have some loaners, especially in those rare cases when a camera needs to go back a second time.

Well in the context of this industry RED's service is phenomenal. I've never heard or ARRI themselves repair anything in short of a month. Panavision will give you a lot of on set support if your in their neighborhood. But what RED's doing is pretty amazing. Of course it would be awesome for RED to have loners, but why would they? They aren't who your renting from.

If your renting your RED and making money off it your negligent IMHO if you don't also provide some plan for a backup.

My EVF was bad from day one and the I also had a piece of dust behind my OLPF. Brian turned it around very quickly for me. Great service. I'm lucky I live in LA though b/c the turnaround is even faster.

Its alot more difficult ( and expensive ) than most people understand...

but we are working on it.
I'm sure a lot of people would be happy to pay some extra money to get a premium support, a service center in Europe and loaners in case of emergency.

Please consider that as an option too.

Thanks,
Nils.
